The relief! It's taken me 4 months, but i've finally completed it (RANT AHEAD!)

Thank god too. Has got to be the most disjointed, highly uninteresting RE game going, definately gives RE5 a run for it's money in terms of sheer blandness and lack of inventiveness. Almost 10 years since RE4 and Capcom have produced two absoloute duds.

The interluding stories were a complete mess, the level designs insipid, some of the most irritating enemies going from the 'jump on you from stupid distances' zombies to those javos spawning new limbs (which take more bullets than it should to dispatch them), the boss fights got flat out boring - why do I have to kill one boss three or four times before it finally dies? It's repetitive throughout every story arc - same level, different character. Also - driving cars, motorbikes and flying aircrafts? Do me a favour!!!!

I clearly missed it, but where was the weapon upgrade system? I didn't expect to see another Merchant in there like RE4, but be creative Capcom, a major part of every game like this should have a system whereby you can strengthen your weapons to give you more of that fighting chance against the stronger enemies - it's a written rule in fact in gaming history.

Speaking of which I absoloutely loath the skill point system, bare even noticed a difference, and even after a playthrough of each story arc I couldn't afford half the stuff on there. It's also more proof this multiplayer thing is getting well out of hand. I want to play RE on my own, not with another player and certainly not with the AI as a partner. I hear to amass skill points quicker you should play mecenaries - how about no.

I've bought my games for the last 20 years now for single player experience, the multiplayer option should be a bonus only, or create a new RE game for the multiplayer experience instead of shoving it down everyone elses throats. Without wishing to compare here - Goldene on N64 - great single player experience, supremely fun multiplayer with friends. Now you can do it all online and every single gameing company think it's clever to make it one massive mutiplayer experience.

Frustrating garbage from start to finish. Leon's story arc was the best of a VERY bad bunch, After what they put us through with Chris, they should have killed him off so we don't have to experience that shoot em up crap in future iterations.

I weep for anyone who actually found this good, it'll only give Capcom confidence to produce another pile of turd like this. No wonder it dropped in price after a couple weeks on shelf, their actual sales to customers (Note distribution to stores) fails horribly in comparison to their better titles in the series. *sigh*

My only reply: You're not a RE fan if you want weapon upgrading, unless its like the old games. Or in revelations. 4 and 5 shops/merchant made the game too easy and less of a surivival horror.

... and yet RE4 is the best selling RE game of all time and widely considered (by far) the best in the series.

Everything that was great in RE4 was butchered in 5, and the hack jobs seems complete in this.

There was pretty much nothing good in 4 RE-wise, and why the hell would anyone give a damn how much a game sold? I've never sat down and played a game saying "Gee, this game sure sold well.". I think more along the lines of "well, this game is good/bad at being the kind of game it's supposed to be.".

I genuinely can't believe some people actually try to defend this crap. LOL!

Anyone who slags RE4 off doesn't even warrent a response. It is one of the few games to revolutionise games of its kind and one of the most influential of the past decade. That's a fact,

With the exception of possibly only a few (you included), it's cited as the best RE game and breathed a lease of life into the horror genre. End of.

If RE5 and 6 are crap then you should blame RE4 for starting this mess.

RE4 had no relevance to the main story, hardly had any puzzles, there was no reason to conserve ammo. it had the worst version of leon in the series and annoying ashley, it was a giant escort mission. to make matters worse it felt like ada was forced into the game just because leon was in it.

the game was full of action and nothing to do with survival horror and hardly had any atmosphere. saddler and salazar had to be the worst villians to date, who leaves notes around revealing all their plans? what little back tracking it had felt forced just to have it.

Enemies that run up to about 20 feet from you then walk, dont attack and proceed to walk in a circle before even attempting to swing. boss fights were boring and also incredibly easy, the merchant was dumb and out of place. dont even get me started on the tetris inventory.

only things RE4 had that has anything to do with the series are

Leon, Hunk, Ada, and Wesker
guns, typewriter, herbs and first aid sprays
and an inventory that pause the game.

The story should have never been a main title.

You cant say RE5 and 6 were crap but 4 revolutionized the series and gaming. 4 started this and 5 and 6 just took it to the next level, if they are crap games so is RE4.

What a story TC. The game, for an RE game, does have its faults, but not for the points you mentioned. I could very easily take apart your whole opening post, but due to the tone in it and your following responses you're clearly not worth my time for that.

Brb, playing into my 423rd of RE6.

Contrasting difference between obnoxious posters on here and RE4 is rather funny.

Ah well, guess some of you are too young enough to remember how incredibly well recieved RE4 was upon release on Gamecube, then PS2.

This notion that it wasn't an RE game is also ridiculous. It's awards, critical acclaim and status among gaming community speaks for itself, doesn't need a few spotty teenagers to degrade it.

Have fun playing this rubbish anyway, wish I could be half as positive about it.

ha, ^ great response, goku.

re6 > re4 on multiple levels. re4 changed everything, but not many dare blame it because it was the first in the series to change the style of gameplay, therefore being innovative and refreshing.

i don't see how re4 was that different than re6. and the mp only enhance re6's experience.

lol except im 27 and still think RE4 is garbage and RE6 is still a much better game compared to it.

i could ask a ton of people i know and 8 out 10 would say that RE4 ruined the series.
