Why exactly is RE6 and other modern RE games not RE? Just as good as originals.

That's what some think. I have a different opinion. Yours?

While you're thinking of that, just for fun has anyone played Metal Gear Rising and/or heard Rules of Nature? It goes with anything. Obviously inspired by Guile's theme, but it's true, don't you think? You can always apply the Rules of Nature. This is just for fun, so....yeaahh...

Because in the new ones you aren't in a trapped maze-like environment. You aren't playing detective in a location that you have to figure out which areas to unlock and backtrack through with interlocking passages and notes lying around all over the place and a finite amount of ammo and health at your disposal.

To me, they aren't as good due to the enemies basically being other humans. "zombies" or whatever name they give the infected that shoot guns and talk to each other is just not RE. I think that's my biggest gripe.

I also wish 5 and 6 balanced exploring creepy environments and action segments a lot better like RE4 did, rather than basically being all out action games. At least 6 gave it a shot with some of Ada's and Leon's chapters, as well as that creepy city hall part in Chris's. But for the most part I don't feel like I'm barely surviving a nightmare anymore... I have enough weaponry to be considered a one man army and all the moves of an action movie hero. It definitely removes the tension.

Probly the only major flaw about RE 6 I'll ever agree with

I have no problem with RE4 and RE5. To me RE4 is a little hard to play because of stiff controls. But RE5 is still a great game. My main issue with RE6 is sloppy mechanics and unfocused gameplay, not exactly the direction of the game. I personally think that the game are evolving storyline wise. Zombies can only be a threat for so long. The newer enemies show how viruses are slowly evolving into making tougher and more dangerous enemies. J'avos are technically considered the most elite virus mutants.

Plagas are not an evolution, they're simply a complete different thing. Uroboros would be an evolution of previous things in the series. Hell, C, as crappy a plot device as it is, is more of an evolution than Plagas. Plagas literally just came out of nowhere and have nothing to do with any other viral agent in the damn series.

Aside from that zombies were not ever even meant to be fought storywise. They're simply accidents.

Which is why I mentioned J'avos and not Plagas. Even Uroborous can be considered an evolution because it takes an existing "virus" and is upgraded.

offline single-player on re6, orc, re5 and both outbreaks < other resident evil games.
split-screen or online co-op on re6, orc, re5 and both outbreaks > other resident evil games.

playing with friends or even strangers just make the games more fun and diverse, which is why i like it.

Yeah but co-op really has no place in horror though. There is no diversity in video games these days because almost everything is fast paced and actiony with forced co-op.

Personally, I still consider RE4 a proper survival-horror RE game, despite some flaws such as the story which was unrelated to previous games. RE5 and RE6 are not bad action games, but lack the survival horror elements that defined the RE series before that. As spin-offs they would have been OK. Out of the two, I prefer RE5 as its more focused.

RE6's file about B.O.W.s makes special mention of the Tyrant:

BIO-ORGANIC WEAPONS (B.O.W.s)

Bio-Organic Weapon -- An organic life form that has been turned into a weapon, usually by means of viral infection. The virus is designed not to kill the host outright, but to transform it into a creature that is suited for combat situations. The creatures that ran amok during the leak of the T-Virus in Raccoon City in 1998 are typical of such B.O.W.s. One of the most effective B.O.W.s produced by the T-Virus was the Tyrant, which gave many Raccoon City survivors a run for their money. Its high intelligence and strength made it a focus for researchers.

The complement unlocked from RE.NET particularly notes that it may never be surpassed:

Records of this are kept even with the BSAA. Below is one of those records.
---
The "T" in T-Virus stands for Tyrant: the ultimate human-based B.O.W.. Not only is a Tyrant incredibly strong, but it is also intelligent and capable of following orders. No other mutation may ever be capable of surpassing it.

This does seem quite possible if we do consider the Tyrant variants Umbrella developed, with several roles in mind:

-An Intelligent version (Nemesis T-Type from RE3)
-An Infiltration version (Hypnos T-Type from RES)
-A Heavy Weapons version (T.A.L.O.S. from RE:UC)

Also, we know that the Nemesis, T.A.L.O.S. and the Ivans are all capable of using weapons.

In essence Plagas are more similar to the NE-Alpha Parasite used to control Nemesis. In fact, in RE:ORC the NE-Beta parasites pretty much act like Plagas, controlling zombie hosts and even causing new mutations, as in the case of final boss of the Echo Six campaign. Anyway, In Damnation Las Plagas are used to control Licker Betas, and quite possibly also the Tyrants.
