Dino Crisis had run and gun long before Resident Evil, way back on the first PlayStation.
Yeah, it had turn from survival horror into completely action and shooting game but everyone still love Dino Crisis 2 and want another sequels with Regina as the main cast. But when it comes to Resident Evil, fans wants RE to end it's series at its 4th game and want to have classic gameplay and every favorite main cast to die even though Resident Evil doesn't turn into a completely different genre like what happen to Dino Crisis.
I guess people loves to complain when they grow older.

Dino Crisis 2 didn't just have run and gun but currency accumulation from killing dinosaurs. You get more points from performing combo kills without taking damage before leaving a room.
You can then use those points to buy guns from vending devices.
I wonder if the features in later RE games were rubbed off from Dino Crisis. --- There is no such thing as a "Quick Time Event done right". A game that has Quick Time Events is a "video game done wrong".

Maybe this game returning is the surprise E3 Capcom announcement?
