Game IS an art.

Art is involved in game development.

But ultimately, games can't be art, because what's important is gameplay and balance, not art direction and artistic expression.

As far as Im concern(and pretty sure a lot of people out there), they are equally important. I want and need a multitude of dimensions where I, the player, can be attached to a game. A game whre the only thing that i can attached to is the fact that i can control something around is no better than something that doesnt give me anything at all. A game needs to express itself to me, as what does it want me to feel when im playing it. Otherwise, is just same old crap no matter how good or flashy or solid or responsive the gameplay is.

The game industry did well without the need for overly-artistic direction or presentation for generations.

For example, games like Mega Man or Contra.

Artistic direction or expression will always be secondary to the more important factors, like gameplay, accessibility, balance and replay value.

I got the idea for this poll when Crimson Rex said "the ones who don't want co-op are the minority".
I was curious to see if that's the case with the people here.

There seems to be some truth to what he said, based on the current results.

Welcome to 2013, us gamers want more attachment to games. Thats how a lot of gamers evolved.

as far as im concern, be it secondary or primary, psychological aesthetics of a game is not worth throwing away nor deviated dramatically in favor of gameplay.
speaking of which, i also dont agree how not adding coop for campaign will cripple gameplay replayability, or that it will affect sales(bioshock infinite did sell well, both business and critical reception wise, for a single player game.)

Games are business, but they aren't all about braindead money making. You dont just flow with something. Pure business minded people help keep gaming alive but it'll soon destroy it.

Yeah, let's waste time, effort and money to make some irrelevant, outdated point-and-click adventure.

Is this supposed to be "art" just because everything is in clay stop-motion?

How shallow.
