As far as I know, the Director Cut version is better than the original because it has added a few features so going for Drector Cut is better than the original

The original Resident evil was never on the playstation store, its always been the directors cut.

The Director's Cut is superior to the original. Unfortunately the original DC is not on PSN. The Dual Shock version is on PSN. And it indeed has laughable music. You're outta luck, TC.

This really ruined my nostalgia.

Director's Cut is the first RE I ever got. Of course it has the real music it to it. I didn't even know the Dual Shock version changed it. My friend had gotten it off PSN and when I started playing it was sooooo confused. That music. I was like wtf....is this? I didn't even think it was DC. I didn't notice the "Dual Shock" part of it. I was legit trying to figure out what version of RE this was because I had the original DC which I thought this was lol.

I have no idea why Capcom decided to destroy the music. A bigger mystery than anything the mansion ever presented.

As much as I dislike the music, it did have some standouts that were actually good.

This one comes to mind: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFO0XeQUiTI

It was just so moody and creepy, and it was terrifying when accompanied by the Hunter's screech.

However, for every good song, there were 4 bad ones, and I think that this one was the worst on the whole OST: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kcF7E69C6Q

It literally sounds like someone was smashing their head against an organ to make this song, and I'm glad I don't have to hear it that much.

Listening to that made me laugh. In any case, I was always creeped out as a kid by this tune:

One of the freakiest in RE, IMO.

See, to go from that awesomeness to Michael J Fox playing with an organ was terrifying in and out of itself, that's probably one of the best on the soundtrack in contrast to one of the worst.
