I hear alot of people saying they want RE to be rebooted.
Why is this? I personally don't think Resident Evil should be rebooted,
I like the characters too much :P
Unless of course they keep the same characters in a reboot.

I thought RE6 was supposed to be a reboot.

Science is interesting, and if you don't agree, you can f*** off.

And I thought Revelations was supposed to be root-reboot. It sort of was, 1/3 of the time.

More games like Resident evil 4. Not too reliant on QTE's, plenty of atmosphere, story barely takes itself seriously, one clear bad buy (not a bunch of faceless bureaucrats) and waits until the last two chapters to go insanely over the top

Nope. I think it is fine, as is.

No...

If you like a series that keeps going back to square one, Tomb Raider is coming out soon.

Alright?

Seriously, there's nothing in the game lore right now that can't be fixed somehow except...

...

... Ah... this is really about Wesker isn't it?

You pathetic fanboys...

Good series often need a reboot, and this is especially true of video games. Sometimes, a series gets too many titles, and its mythos gets so out of hand that we need something like a reboot. DC did it with Crisis on Infinite Earths, and it's better because of it. Same with James Bond doing a reboot with Casino Royale. And, while I personally don't like the Batman reboot, critics agree that it was a great change of pace from its predecessors.

In Resident Evil's case, the plot has gone from sensible to totally absurd because the writers kept tacking on plotline after plotline until we were left with a crazy hodgepodge of ideas. A reboot could very well invigorate the series; contemporary gameplay with a plot that isn't convoluted and nonsensical.

Seriously, RE6 included an in-universe Illuminati parallel that has impacted history since the dawn of America, and yet was only mentioned this game. A reboot is the way to go. From here on, we'll just get a worse and worse story if we want future titles to maintain consistency with the established mythos.

I don't think it should be rebooted, so much as remade.

Specifically, the entire series needs to be REmade.

But all with online co op.

For example. Resident Evil 1, needs to be Co-Op, like Chronicles, RE5, and RE6. Have gameplay like RE6. And Lost In Nightmares, the RE5 DLC, is perfect example of why this would work. After all, Chronicles retconned the series so that Jill&Chriss, and Claire and Leon were TOGETHER during the incidents, rather than surviving seperately.

Same thing with RE2. Possibly RE3, but I don't recall who was present that the second player could be.

Only, if you don't want to do co-op, there doesn't need to be a second character, rather than forcing AI in the spot.

A reboot? Are you people serious? That would be terrible. I've seen how Capcom reboots franchises. Nobody should be actively wishing that on anything.

Um...what?
One clear bad guy? Uh...Mendez, Salazaar, Saddler, Krauser...that's one? Yeah Saddler was running the show but so was Wesker in RE5 and Carla in RE6.

Personally no, I like the direction it's taking. Anything gameplay wise between Revelations and RE6 is fine with me.
