What are acid rounds useful for?

Absolute Steve's guide says that they do a quarter of the damage and have a smaller splash radius compared to explosive rounds. I'm guessing some enemies have a weakness to acid rounds. Anyone want to shed some light?

Acid Rounds can stun certain J'avos like the Grasshoppers, wielding sword bug, Butterflybats for coup de grace 7+ seconds set ups and 5 seconds for standard J'avos.

Also it kills the Gnezdo Bee swarm easily.

They destroy zombie dogs, and also stun whoopers and bloodshots for a CDG :D

I think Haos doesn't like them but in general they are pretty redundant considering how much more effective and useful fire and ice rounds are (either for quick kills or easy melee).
