Any one figure out how to get it without just beating the chapter?

I figured all the medallions would open the cage, unless I missed one or two, it didn't do anything.

I asked this before. You need 16 in total to open that gate. There is a big room with a table and underneath it is a medallion. You need to use a remote bomb to blow up the table. Thats where i found my last medallion.

Try not to pick up any static medallions (the ones that always appear in the same spot) and just collect ones the enemies drop until they stop spawning - then grab the static ones.

Or just follow Berserker's guide. Worked for me.
