So if it looks more like the one from VII, it's obviously a fake.
Totally missed the point. The weapon designs are always different. 2 games in the FFVII series prove this so one can't simply say "They look different hurr hurr".

Edged or not, I wouldn't press that thing against my shoulder. I barely put my own double-edged blade (which is rather thin, I might add) against my shoulder. Something about razor-sharp edges and my neck doesn't seem to mix.
For a bludgeon like Garland's knock-downer, dragging it might be correct, especially if the weapon is made of stone (like FFXII's stoneblade), as it would keep an edge that way. Besides, he doesn't ALWAYS drag it, kind of like how nobody except Lightning carries their weapon when they don't need it (barring mages and Cecil, who for no logical reason strapped a sword across his back VERTICALLY, as if he's got other people to go through doors for him. Either that or he likes twisting, turning and dancing through gateways).

It's only 16.666667% as cool as Fusion Swords
Garland's weapon can morph into other weapons, which is cool.
But some of those weapons that are not swords, which is not cool.
