... How the hell is Rufus still alive!?!

Inb4 cOLD.

Yeah, I know that this is old ****, but seriously, wtf? This has always bothered me ever since I first saw the movie.

This is the last we see of him in FFVII:

And then in AC, his injuries don't even seem nearly as serious as they should be.

He does apparently have a severe case of Geostigma (if you can have a "severe" case of it) which is in someway connected to Jenova. Maybe that kept him alive?

He was about to explain it when Cloud interrupted him. I guess we'll never know. To be honest, I felt it was just a lame excuse to have him in the movie.

His desk fell on him and Diamond WEAPON might've missed direct hits. If his desk fell on him and then **** just collapsed, then he might make it out with little more than some broken bones and geostigma.

I'm a little more concerned about Reno and Rude. Blowing yourself up, even with fireworks, would probably make a you look like Freddy Krueger. Yet these guys get the crap stomped out of them, and then walk off the battlefield with their suits intact. Go figure.

I think one of the On the Way to a Smile novellas says he found a hidden escape tunnel under his deck. He was still injured from Diamond Weapons attack, though.
