Is Center of the World ever worth it?

Man, this topic raised a lot more discussion than I imagined it would.

Actually, I like the direction of this topic right now. People start talking about the game itself and throwing out opinion at each other without being disrespect to the other. The ideal discussion topic if you ask me.......

Yup. I like that sort of discussion. I was just surprised that my question was such a conversation starter, is all.

That is all.

@Mad Well, it was the match that you entered EXmode. I was quite sure when I was playing with you in the first meet-up, I didn't use SBS on any of my character. Yet, I did use assist.

So what should we derail the topic into - general QR stuff, or Center of the World vs Side By Side?

Just kidding, but if it does get derailed (not advocating topic derailment), I think CotW vs SbS wouldn't be a bad way to do it.

But pretty much what pichtt said - these kinds of topics, the one debating something that some see useless and others see as beneficial in unorthodox or unexpected ways, do tend to conjure up quite a bit of conjecture, which in turns increases the chance of derailment. I'm sure we remember that Irvine topic.

Derail some other topic, will ya? LOL But if it is still about CoW vs SBS, then it is not that much of a derailment, if you ask me :P

At any rate..... Yea, and also the Boobs incident.... It gave me the chills even until today >_>

Back on to topic..... From what I read, Yea, CoW user really do have to watch out for those with SBS. But not much the other way around since they can choose to not use assist when ever they want (but if you enter EXmode, there is nothing you can do to cancel it) So, the Jamming something I forgot the name that help you prevent EXbreak is really going to help. 1 Wall rush when the opponent have at least 1 assist bar is almost equal doom. Cloud, as mentioned, is one of the most dangerous with SBS in this case. But, lucky, I doubt people would use SBS on Cloud anyway.

They might run a no-booster EX build with Gilmmering Crystal, A Comrade's Vow, EXP->Assist and Assist Gauge Dash. That way they can Dash after Cores while gaining Assist. I just gave it a whack using all three Dashes that are affected by AGD (I almost always use Omni Air Dash) and damn are the results worth it. If Cloud does that then he'll be able to build Assist rapidly without the major nerfs of Side by Side.

Against AI this'll work, I just tried it out. Against humans... I don't see it working too well.

And I sometime run a SbS Cloud build. But only because it makes it so I have extra slots for wall rush brave damage and boosters. >_>; I gotta say, easy breaks are easy.

Yea, I remember a vid RockmanAL posted here that shows one of the player dash to gain Assist, it was crazy and very effective.

Dash cancelling, while in theory is nice, isn't exactly all it's cracked up to be. Even the "inventor" of it (ffixbmlx or something to that effect) of the Dissidia Forums said after he discovered it (back in the days of Dissidia 1) that it's got no real benefit in competitive play. I'm too lazy to find a thread about it though. >_>;

The only benefit of it is gaining AST (before AST decay kicks in), and mindgaming your opponent. However, if you can't pull off this trick consistently you might as well forget about trying it.
