LegendaryUmanPosted 6/9/2011 1:25:26 PM | Looks pretty bad, really. In the demo, Asura could only do three moves in normal gameplay, then it transitioned into a shooting game, and everything else was cutscenes or QTEs....
But, for some reason, it still looks awesome. I guess it's the style. Wyzen is only the first boss, so I guess Asura will develop other moves and forms as the game goes on. He'll need them, considering how Wyzen almost killed him. I can't wait for the other boss battles, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the games mixes ancient Buddhist imagery with crazy futuristic stuff. |
GirgantePosted 6/10/2011 1:15:11 AM | I'm still unsure about this game. I mean, it looks epic. But it doesn't look like an epic game. It seems like they sort of wanted to just do a story(even interview confirms this) and super-crazy battles, and for this the gameplay seems to be taking a back-seat.
This shouldn't be the case if one wants to make an epic game. Maybe they could have done an anime instead if that's what they were after.
Then again, the QTE stuff in Bayonetta was actually fun - so this could work. It's just that in Asura's Wrath this seems to take up a lot more time. In Bayonetta, the QTEs were backed up with very solid gameplay. I just wonder if that will be the case for this game too. I'm keeping an eye on its progress - maybe they just were stupid about it and didn't showcase a good part of the game.
I would have preferred if they showed a bit more 'normal' gameplay, and THEN show this massive epic boss battle; to assure people that you do get to play and do awesome stuff, not just see awesome stuff happening while you press some random buttons to make you feel like you're controlling the character, when in reality it's pretty much a cut-scene.
