I've been using the Drake Sword and Soul Arrows to fight, my Shortbow does very little damage. I rang the first bell and have the Master Key. Can I get a better bow at this point, or should I upgrade my Shortbow?

If you have 20,000 Souls, you can buy the "Crest of Artorias" from Andrei. Go open the locked door in Dark Root Garden, find an archer inside that door and kill him, he'll drop one of the best bows in the game. Black Bow of Pharis stacks S with Dexterity.

THIS IS A THREAD HIJACK

What about a good boy for *late* game? I don't want the Dragonslayer Bow, thing's ugly.

Wich one is better?

Darkmoon bow +5 with heavy faith investment
Pharis Bow +15 with heavy dexterity investment

Is it far from the entrance?

And I don't have 20,000 Souls :l I've just been killing enemies in Undead Parish to farm souls.

Original topic: There is a long bow on the path to dark root basin. Way better than the short bow. I love the composite bow, but it may be very hard for a player to get there early on. Definitely manageable if you've rung both bells already.

I'd also like to hear some answers to the new question about late game bows.

As for early game, if you have the master key, you can go through the door behind havel and find a free longbow there. As for late game, any bow is fine. Bows aren't used for dps in my opinion. It is to lure enemies out one by one. If you really wanted dps, then you should get any old bow and buy hundreds of poison arrows.

Yeah, I'm in the mood to do a huntress build (bows only, except dragonslayer bow), and i'm still wondering if I should start pumping points in faith or dexterity, for the aforementioned bows in my previows post.

Just make sure that you upgrade your bows and that you only use arrows that match the type, wooden/normal/heavy etc. and poison for physical (+5/+10/+15) upgraded bows, moonlight (purchased from the giant blacksmith) for bows upgraded to deal magic damage, and fire arrows (purchased from the lady merchant in the aquadect near firelink) with fire upgraded bows.
