canadianchuk posted... never know you might be able to break it at a blacksmith and it gives you something cool. (I'm only guessing)
on second thought it might be like the comb from the Demon's Souls you give to stock pile thomas. --- the only good bug is a dead bug

This and the witch's ring both have no apparent effect.
However, remember that you can also just opt to have NO gift at all. For whatever reason..

Someone said that the Old Witch's Ring lets you talk to an NPC that would otherwise shoo you off at first. I haven't heard anything more specific than that though. --- "I'd rather betray the world than let the world betray me." -Cao Cao

It is entirely possible that the witch's ring could serve a similar purpose to the Minister's Hat from Demon's Souls, especially since you can supposedly acquire it somewhere in the game world if you didn't take it as a gift. --- Bane even prayed for Dick when he became Batman. -- Frostbite_Zero

What NPC that deals with (witch ring-wise), and if it's useful (like.. merchant/spells... not.. "fight optional boss early"), are something I'd like to figure out before release if possible.
The value of the pendant would be good to know as well.
Compared to most spoilerific things, the relative use of the starting items is something that seems useful to know...
