I don't think this is well known yet, I just realized it after looking at the stats of a level 1 PVPer. Someone on GAF made this post:

I think he meant 30 (like the item find cap.) Can anyone get some more info though? I imagine it would be easy to test for anyone that can use the item glitch. I'd really like to know when exactly the bonus defense gets capped and what the maximum benefit is.

I'm pretty sure the defense bonus stops scaling at 30 humanity. Not sure what the formula is, but it looks like its around +40 def. Not bad, but not great.

This is incredibly well known, I added all the information on it into the wiki back two or three days after release. Defenses are all calculated by a factor of Sum_of_Statpoints + Humanity. Fire and Physical also are affected by RES, Magic is also affected FAI, Lightning is just that. Humanity up to 99 is recognized and the game calculates defenses until 792. That is, 792 between humanity and the 8 stats, so you can cap your naked defenses before you hit max SL.

Hope that answers some questions. I also hope no one deleted stuff I spent my time adding to the wiki.

Wow, thanks. I've never seen anyone mention the benefits of high humanity beyond item farming, but it seems really useful for PVP too.

Yeah, the original worry about being able to hit 99 humanity with one consumable was that everyone who doesn't do it was at a disadvantage. However, the effect once you hit SL120 is much lower. But for low level invaders, it is a strong thing to have. Well, at least sort of beneficial.
