It's probably the strongest(at least most survivable) starting class due to the battle axe and highest vit/end. In the end thought it won't matter because all classes do is change what gear you start with and your initial stats. Once you start leveling up and getting your own gear then starting class really doesn't mean much. Start with bandit and learn a bit about the game. Once you figure it out you might decide to start over as a class that fits what kind of stat placement you want.

I would have gone with pyro, as being able to whip out a fireball on capra makes a big difference IMO, but not a big deal. Just don't touch resistance, and pick a direction you want to go with your character...

Pyro starts you with fireball spells and light armor that's good versus poison bleed and fire.

Wanderer is a solid fast attacking class.

Bandit has the main advantage of starting with the Spider Shield, an important shield for dealing with poison/toxic causing enemies.

All the class gear, shields and magic stuff can be found eventually. The spider shield for instance is in the depths, faith trainer at first bonfire, mage trainer right under it but in a scary place, the first pyro trainer is rather far into the game though.

Bang for your buck, Pyromancer is the best option.

You'll find an Undead merchant in Undead Burg if you look carefully, the stairs leading down to him are hidden by some pots. From him you can buy the Heater shield, one of the best medium shields in the game, ideal for early game by being the lightest 100% physical block shield and also the only shield with fast parry and medium deflection.

He also sells the short bow, arrows, and a decent selection of weapons, including the fast scimitar. You can also pick up shorts swords, long swords, spears and axes off of the basic soldiers there.

bandit is really good for builds that don't want 2+ spell slots, since base att on them is 8. good for faith/fath hybrids too.
