Help selecting between weapons

Hello, I am currently playing a dex faith build and im trying to decide between these two weapons. I want either of these two weapons to be back up to my uchig. I plan on using sun blade,my faith and dex will be both 40 they are the shotel or the balder side sword. what one would be better for pvp. would divine or occult deal more damage than lighting or chaos. another other recommended weapons that deal more damage and still swing fast | |
A Shotel is a great backup weapon, especially against turtles. I would recommend +15 if your Dex is already 40. It doesn't scale too well, but I was consistently doing about double damage with it in actual gameplay due to split damages/resistances. The BSS is best used as a buffed main weapon, not a backup, but its thrusts can be quite powerful if somebody is staying at long range. Another good backup weapon you can look into is the Rapier for insane backstab damage at light weight. what about a flamberge i hear its swings fast and deals a lot of damage? | |
The Flamberge swings like the Claymore. It's averagely fast, but nowhere near as fast as straight swords and curved swords. However, it makes up for it with huge stunlocks. Its R2s combo 4 times in a row, whether 1-handed or 2-handed. That means that the opponent can't roll out until 4 R2's have hit them (unless they know how to weapon-switch cancel it). It also combos I believe 4 times with 2-handed R1's. I like it a lot, but don't think of it as a fast weapon. --- Currently dying while waiting for Borderlands 2 to come out... Dex weapons worth a damn are murakumo, balder side sword, chaos blade, flamberge, and shotel for backup. If I were you I would switch out the uchi for the balder side sword or one of the other aforementioned weapons, and have the shotel as backup. if your making a faith build use a +5 cresent axe for pve as most enemies are undead, if you plan to pvp then a +s occult balder side sword with a +10 fire balder side sword as your second weapon is good for lower level invasions, a quick parry and stab to the guts will 1 hit kill most of your victims as you need to be quick with the kill before they can lag stab you. --- We are trying to create a game that is spicy. And we want to make it as spicy as possible. But its edible and tastes good and leaves you wanting more. | |
out of those 2 options i'd say go for the shotel for its shield piercing effect. the flamburg is a fairly fun weapon and keeps up the bleed pressure so its not a bad choice ether. ( though it will take some practice to get used to its speed and its rather interesting r2 attacks). but over all i'd recommend ether a divine great scythe or a lifehunt scythe for back up. the scythes may have the worst r1's in the entire game ( whips and shields withstanding) but the wide arc of just about every other attack in its arsenal is just too good to pass up. just be sure to carry some red moss if you go with the lifehunt to counter its bleed damage. ( the reason i suggest a lifehunt over just a standard great scythe is that it actually does more physical damage than a +15 Great scythe, making it better as a back up weapon, where your most likely never gonna have a chance to buff, course, if it was your main weapon i'd say go great scythe over lifehunt for the buffability,) --- psn: supersoniccd | |

Why is the Chaos blade better than the Uchi? I'm unfamiliar with the Chaos Blade as I haven't used it...ever. But I do know that the Uchi has a higher AR at 40 Dex. That said, the Balder Side Sword is the best of the options you named. I'd go RH1- Balder Side Sword +15 RH2- Balder Side Sword Chaos +5 LH1- Tin Crystallization Catalyst (use CMW then swap to...)Grass Crest Shield +14 LH2- Balder Side Sword Lightning +5 The offhanded BSS really takes enemies by surprise, and no one can stand against the strength of 3 balder side swords. --- --- GT: StrngArmAlchmst Make me a furnace of destruction and pain, living Hatred. | |

HAHAHA I literally laughed :D Chaos blade has higher AR with 10 humanity, more range, and better bleed rate than the uchi, only thing going for the uchi is the 1h R2 stab. (which is to be honest not too bad after playing around a bit, but washing pole still reigns as king of katanas, being a quality weapon and having the range of a longspear with its stab) --- Young master, i cannot aid one who opposes the master. | |
