take the guardian soul and the pendant and go to Priscilla while in human form after completing the DLC on a 2nd playthrough, BEFORE defeating Sif in the forest and you'll be able to have new conversations with her revealing all of the the back story of the whole Painting World and have an alternate option when fighting adult Sif later on which yields a Guarding Amulet which is active while in the quick slot inventory and grants various resistance boosts along a unique buff that negates fatal damage once. recharges when you visit a bonfire.

The PC boards, if you're willing to brave them, have already done much of what is in this thread (obviously not the fake replies).

The conclusion is that the Guardian Soul really DOES do nothing and is just for devouring, or it has some secret we've yet to discover.

Until such a time as a definitive conclusion can be reached (one more definitive than the current one, anyways) it would probably be wise to hold onto it.

Or eat it. Sanctuary Guardian isn't that difficult.

Smells like the pendant all over again.
