is the rp build any good, how do people go about doing it? I've heard of Guts from my months of playing Dragons Dogma, never looked into the anime... is that good?

The anime is quite good but go with the manga if you want the whole story. It's thirty-six volumes and counting though.

The anime is garbage compared to the manga.

For a Guts build make your character around the DragonGreatsword, pick some armor that looks like him and get an Avelyn.

The anime is really good. It's an old show, so it has this weird habit of having really good animation at certain points and really lousy animation at some. It's basically the Game of Thrones of japanese cartoons. Lots of grey area, complex personalities, violence, rape, politics, and characters die.

They also recently came out with an animated film covering the entirety of the anime series in 3 different films. You can find the first movie on youtube and clips of the second one that came out recently.

There's probably no specific build since it's RP, hence people will take liberties based on how accurate they want it to be / how they intend to reflect certain elements with gameplay mechanics. I've personally never made any such build myself, and I've only ever seen the anime, which (story-wise) finishes nowhere near the current events of the Manga it's based on. The thing about Berserk is that it goes back almost 23 years so it's not exactly new and the story itself isn't exactly what I'd call intricate but it's powerful in its own right. It deals a lot with themes like revenge, redemption, betrayal mixed with supernatural elements and isn't generally a very optimistic tale at all for that very reason. The anime itself isn't what I'd call impressive if you're looking for top-end animation quality but it's still definitely watchable, and in my opinion it tells the first part of the story fairly well.

In any case the basis for such a build would simply be a 27/45 Quality Pyro distribution with the RP element mainly coming down the choice of equips and spells. For Guts you'd use something like the Claymore or the GLGS to reflect what he wielded in his youth since unlike in Demon's Souls there's nothing in Dark Souls that really fits the bill of his 'Dragonslayer' sword. You'd use Avelyn on the off-hand switch to sub-in for the repeating crossbow he uses, and then Pyromancy (Great Combustion, Great Chaos Fireball, whatever) for his arm-cannon, with Power Within to act as his 'Berserk' state. Armor-wise probably something like the Balder Torso, Iron Bracelet and either Wander Boots, Black Boots or Hard Leather Boots with no helmet for his earlier days, pieces of the Black Knight set would probably look more accurate for later on.

TC, listen to all these fine gentlemen and find the manga. The anime, while decent, cuts out a good deal of back story and an couple of arcs, especially at the end.. That being said, it isn't bad and would do in a pinch to introduce you to the series. However, the real story won't even start to take place and it's a damn shame.

There's also a movie coming out on the 27th of November, the first in a trilogy, that covers probably the most important set of arcs in the entire manga. And no, it is nothing like other anime today. Throughout the Souls series, especially in Demon's Souls, there have been references to Berserk; the Dragon Bone Smasher being the one that's most poignant to memory.
