Jolly Co-op ain't so jolly with the lack of co-op as of late...

*I am re-posting this by request as it would seem many prefer messages to contain line-breaks. So in consideration for others, I shall remedy this. See, I'm a good person :)
Apologies, cannot seem to fix the first post on here.

Alright, so I think, mayhap, I have found a solution to this, or at least a possible explanation as to why it is so. I was reading a few other threads on here and discovered that quite a few people are experiencing glitches outside the realms of the DLC (floating bloodstains and such), and the general consensus is that when one quits the game completely and relaunches it, the glitches do not return until the next visit to any DLC areas.

So, I completely exited out of the game and relaunched it, placed signs in Anor Londo and the Kiln and, HEY! tons of summoning. I revisited the DLC areas again, then returned to place a sign at the same locations and, once again, no dice (accept for one random summon within about 30 minutes). Completely closed out and relaunched again and was all good for being summoned.

I am aware that this could indeed simply just be happenstance, so if anyone has similar experiences, please post to confirm these findings. The basic conclusion I have reached at the moment is that the DLC has acquired tons of technical 'demons', and it is ideal to stay away from it unless absolutely necessary (or you are just invading, as that seems to be unaffected by all of this nonsense).

*For those who do not wish to read the giant text wall, here is a reformatted version of the first post (as it seems I cannot edit the original)

So let me start off by saying I am a veteran 'Souls' game player (been playing since the NA release of Demon's Souls), and the absolute high point of these game for me has always been the Jolly Co-op with others. It would seem as of late however, that getting summoned in Dark Souls has become quite a chore.

I had no issues the first few days of the DLC release (farmed up over 5mil souls the first day killin' the DLC bosses), but since the DLC graphics glitch has appeared, summoning has kinda really died off.

I understand the principle of placing signs in places where players will be able to easily find them even without seeing them, and do utilize such tactics, but to no avail. I also am pretty sure I have a decent understanding of how the covenant system works in regards to getting summoned, but it seems that finding a co-op partner anywhere in the entire game is not as it once was; summons are few and far between.

I did take a good long break from this game (approximately the entirety of the time we all were running patch 1.05, so if any substantial changes took place regarding the rules of summoning effected by covenants or what have you, I may not be aware of them). My current knowledge of this goes as far as, for a host to summon me, I must be within 10 +/- approximately 15% of their soul level.

I usually play characters level 50-100 (mostly level 100 in Dark Souls), as I prefer the steeper level of competition and skill level required to be successful in PvP (as opposed to higher levels where everyone just stacks poise and fast rolls with their heavy armor regardless of their character build).

If anyone knows as to why Jolly Co-op has become so much less jolly as of the past week or two, and could give me some information or tips as to how to remedy this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank ya kindly in advance.

1.) Only place by bonfires. That's where people look. The problem with placing anywhere else, anywhere "creative" is that

-They'll already have a full party by the time they get to you
or
-They're human for another reason (looking for PVP, etc) and won't pick you up

Don't be creative, go with what works. If you want to co-op at Dukes place by the Balcony, if you want to co-op in Anor Londo place by Solarie's Bonfire just inside the castle.

Make sure you're the right level. If you're SL25 and trying to pickup in Anor Londo your chances are much lower. Because there is no guidance from the game itself people have established their own regulations and reccomended levels. If nobody followed these Co-op would be even harder to find than it is, it'd just be one higgildy-piggildy mess of mis-matching.

Read it, follow it. You are not a beautiful snowflake. You are made of the same decaying **** as the rest of us. Now suit up space-monkey. It's time to usher in the age of dark.

Not to sound like a giant turd, but how did jolly coop get coined? Is it a Dark/Demon souls thing or is it something the community started calling it? What is it?? I've seen it numerous times, but can't figure out why it's not just called coop. Why jolly??

When you get the white soapstone from Solarie, his dialogue is as follows:

This pleases me greatly! Well then, take this.
We are amidst strange beings, in a strange land.
The flow of time itself is convoluted, with heroes centuries old phasing in and out.
The very fabric wavers, and relations shift and obscure.
There's no telling how much longer your world and mine will remain in contact.
But, use this,
to summon one another as spirits, cross the gaps between the worlds,
and engage in jolly co-operation!
Of course, we are not the only one engaged in this.
But I am a warrior of the sun! Spot my summon signature easily by its brillian aura.
If you miss it, you must be blind!
Hah hah hah!

I tried some coop yesterday on a lvl 65 character. I tried the 4 kings mostly, centipede dragon, firesage and S&O - absolutely nothing at all, I think this has reduced markedly since last week (Halo and CoD symptom?).

I do keep getting invaded though, there doesn't seem to be any issues with regards to that, especially in DLC areas which is a bit annoying because I haven't even worked through the DLC yet.

At the weekend a friend of mine picked up the DLC and so started a new character, I was trying to coop with him but several hours of trying yielded no results at all, I had high hopes for the online interactions which were stunted in demon's souls by the regionalisation but the p2p has killed it stone dead.
