For PvE use whatever you like.

As for the BK greatsword, it's fine for PvP, just don't use any of the R2 attacks ever, and try to use the range / don't be predictable with R1's or you'll get backstabbed.

I've seen some videos where the BK Greatsword R2 was used for oki, and it was pretty amusing. But then again, it was a troll video in Sen's Fortress, so eh.

That's the weird thing, though. I've never gotten backstabbed while R1ing. Maybe I just haven't fought anyone good yet, but the only time I seem to get backstabbed is through teleports. :V

Yeah, the R2's are good for Oki, I do it all the time.xD It's so fun to watch them fly.

Yeah, even with the regular BKS, I caught quite a few people with wakeup R2s for nice damage. :>

Maybe it's me being crazy, but the BKGS seems to have a lot of turning ability on it's 2H R2. Maybe you can like, start it, luring people in for a backstab, then quickly turn and launch them. I mean, it's probably just ultimately a gimmick, but it seems like a possible way to screw with people who fish for rollbs, maybe.

Yeah, I'm maining a BKGS build as I said before, and that works a LOT. Especially if you know they don't have the stability or stamina to block it.

Heh, maybe I'll try it out next time I PvP, then. :P

I will say though, if nothing else, BKGS is one damn fine looking weapon.

BKH = Easy Mode Activated for PvE / Get Your Ass Kicked Mode for PvP.

Hm? What makes the BKH so horrible for PvP?

((Stupid quote limit.))

It takes a while to get used to the timing, but the turnability on both the 1H R2 and 2H R2 is really good. I think I'll stick to this build for a while, it's fun. That and BK's look badass in general.

The BKGS really isn't as bad as people say.

It's said a lot but for PvE you CAN'T use whatever you want, there's absolutely nothing that makes the PvP harder than the PvE in this game (as long as you're not attempting to win 97% of the matches or aiming for 68 streaks in the arena...) try the regular black knight sword for NGmax IE, you will see what happen.

The halberds with an overhead attack are the top weapons in PvE, they work in PvP too, just "poke" with the regular R1 and fish for BS/counter BS in which halberds excel so much, other than that there's nothing to do, maybe the forward R2.

The BK one is just a heavier version on the scythe, much easier to upgrade, is a bit stronger compared with the scythe with dex stats but weaker than the scythe with quality stats, I think...

Overall I think the weapon selection of BK is pretty good, something between quality/dex/str weapons, much better than the str arsenal even with just 4 weapons of choice, is a str build being versatile, but without the investment of a quality build, also, their weapons are really easy to get and upgrade, that's cool.

not true at all

You can use any weapon in PvE if you have the skill and patience to do so.

In PvP, if you are playing against someone of equal or greater skill, you do not stand much of a chance if you are at a severe disadvantage.

PvP is ever changing with people being able to act and react. PvE is static.

Basically the game has a skill limit; players do not.

Noob question here: How do Halberds excel at BSing? Is it just the range or something?

No, is the damage, is just perfect.

Again, I don't think you're facing a rival with "equal or superior skills" everytime you play PvP, or half the times, so, unless if we talk about a tournament, don't seem valid to me.

And no, you can't use whatever you want on high level PvE, not without getting horrible results most of the times.

Here's what I mean.
Is every weapon efficient for PvE? God no (some aren't even good for NG).
Can you beat the AI with any weapon? Yes; since the AI, probably, isn't going to surprise you with new tricks or moves. You can very much master PvE. That isn't something you can do versus a real, thinking person though (even inexperienced players can surprise you, not that I am particularly great at PvP).

That is all I meant. By no means am I putting down PvE; I would still say it is the main draw of the Souls series, for me at least.

I wish people wouldn't like, immediately dismiss even discussing what is good and bad in PvE though.

Posts like this:

For PvE use whatever you like.

It's so dismissive. It's just like, **** PvE, use whatever, now let's discussion what weapons excel in PvP rawr.

Anyway, all BK weapons do bonus damage to chaos demons, like Capra, Firesage, those sorts. The BK Halberd, also, does more poise damage than other halberds, so you'll stun enemies faster with it. Noticeably more poise damage, in fact.

The BK Greataxe is an amazing PvE weapon because of its ability to easily hit multiple enemies and functioning similarly to a greatsword with its R1s, though I'd say Great Scythe is in many ways superior to it (Great Scythe R2s one-handed are effectively similar to BKGA R1s one-handed). Still, the BKGA is pretty versatile and will never become poor in PvE.

The two swords I have less experience with. However...

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/606312-dark-souls/64073430

This was my findings using them in Demon Ruins. BK Greatsword seems to exhibit some strange characteristics, either with its R2s, or its running attack. I was left feeling like its R2s are somewhat junky. However, the running attack being able to one hit stun them made killing them incredibly easy with it.

I'm not sure if, like the halberd, these weapons also do higher poise damage than their regular counterparts.
