I'm glad you guys consider this game a JRPG

For those of you that don't know I have a poll on the main PS3 boards.

I think the trolls or noobs call it a wrpg like they don't want xbox to have a good JRPG or something.

I don't really consider it to be a JRPG personally.

Yeah and every turn based rpg combat system is automatically a JRPG right.

And every open world sandbox is a WRPG.

Now you're just being silly.

To me a jrpg is a rpg where the male protaganist has very femmanin features and there is an annoying child character that will be a party member and has a plot thats so friggin convoluted it gets lost in translation

Well it is a JRPG IMO. JRPGs to me are RPGs made in Japan.
Some people classify JRPGs as turn based RPGs though.

I don't think is an RPG more than a H&S...and absolutely NOT a WRPG, nothing less western than the fight mechanics on this game.

Well, technically, From calls this an action RPG, so it's not an RPG in the strictest sense. Is there such a thing as JARPG?

Exactly nothing about the game give a western vibe at all. Just because it has a open world fantasy world with dragons doesn't make it a WRPG.

Same for just because a game has anime characters and a turn based combat system doesn't mean that it has to be a JRPG.

They are good stereotypes but what defines a game is not just the place of origin or the game mechanics but the actual culture of the game. Something that a lot of people over look.

A JRPG is defined as "Final Fantasy" so no.
