Why do so many players look stupid?

Why do nearly all Dark Souls players gear their character based on pvp stats when there are so many cool armor sets in the game?

This makes most players look ridiculous, often with havel armor, mask of the child etc. I wear full set of black knight gear with +5 lightening claymore and wolf ring to ensure I pass the poise threshold. I can still manage to rack up 15-20 invasion kills at a time which just goes to show you don't always need the horrible looking gear.

I almost never see a player with one of the cool looking sets on. Am I missing something or does nobody care what they look like in this game?

I'm with you. I wear what I want to wear. I prefer to roleplay as a cool-looking alternate reality medieval dude, instead of roleplaying as a turd kid trying to win a game.

For randoms? Sure, why not.
If you build your shop in front of an arrow trap, sometimes you are going to get shot by an arrow.

Obviously part of the point, not a boast.

While I do optimize enough for a fast-roll and decent Poise, I can agree that the lack of variety is silly.
HSWC, Royal Helm and bare chest + Giant Blacksmith Hammer + Ride of the Valkyries = Best day EVAH!!

It's probably been done and done and done but it would be fun to post your favorite looks. Especially if they borrow from multiple sets.

The favorite look I've found is black sorcerer cap, dingy robe, and wanderer else. On a guy (white blond sandy brown curly hair slim soft features)

I wanted to find something that complemented the Moonlight sword well. I actually don't think that you have a lot of options to make a character that looks like a classic quasi-relatable video game hero[ine].

There are more opportunities to make Darth Vader like abominations.
Remember, this is Gamefaqs:
