So elemental weapons suck now?

Here are testing results for AR vs. actual damage (originally posted by aak57), keep in mind that this is BEFORE PATCH 1.06 (which nerfed elemental damage even more):

The Setup

Done at SL125, with all armors and weapons upgraded to max. The target wore two different outfits: one was the infamous Mask of Mother + Giant's armor set, the other was a 0-poise outfit with high lightning resistance. Build was a vit gouge build around 2500 HP; defense numbers on each set were as follows:

Mom/Giant/Giant/Giant:
Normal.....Strike.....Slash.....Thrust.....Magic.....Fire.....Light
...415.........396.........446........415.........291.......341......291

MoM/Dingy/Wanderer/Dingy:
Normal.....Strike.....Slash.....Thrust.....Magic.....Fire.....Light

The attacker had 28 str, 45 dex, 10 humanity and wielded the following weapons 2-handed:

Claymore +15: 528 AR
Lightning Claymore: 571 AR (283/288)
Fire Claymore: 576 AR (288/288)
Chaos Claymore +5: 586 AR (272/314)

Estoc +15: 365 AR
Lightning Estoc: 416 AR (206/210)
Fire Estoc: 420 AR (210/210)
Chaos Estoc: 423 AR (196/226)

Attacks performed consisted of a single R1, a single R2 and a backstab for the Claymore, and just a BS for the Estoc since that’s the only thing people use it for. Each was repeated multiple times to ensure the values were correct.

As you can see Normal weapons were superior to elementals in all attacks, keep in mind that the difference will be even higher now due to all elementals getting a nerf in the last patch.

Elementals are a good choice for NG and @ lower levels. They're also good for weapons that don't scale well with your stats. I have a chaos gargoyle halberd +5 and it's awesome. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think its "D" in dex scaling will outdamage chaos, even @ +15. However, as long as the weapon scales well, +15 is the way to go.

so there you go tc, for base stats or low lvls go elemental, for high dex or str go +15. easy

I should have platinumed it before the 1.05 patch.
My build is forever wack now xD

Thank God I made a Iato +15. Gotta love my insight. Saved my buttcheeks in these patches. xD
