Sometimes at a bonfire or before the boss room there's tons of signs of people to get summoned, but other times, there are none. What causes there to be no summon signs? Does it have anything to do with my covenant? And as a side note, what is the difference between the light yellow summon signs and the orange summon signs?
There are three factors that affect you seeing summoning signs 1. Your level the summoning signs are around your level (10 levels + 10% of your level i think), therefore you cant summon somebody level 20 if your level 50 and visa versa. 2. The area affects the amount for example lots of people will want to help with o&s but noone helps with the be of chaos. 3. your covenent has a small affect on the number you see as if your in the way of the white covenent you will see summoning signs from other people in that covenent more easily.
And as for the difference of the colour the whitish pale ones are your bog standard summoning signs frm your average joe, as for the grossly incandesant golden ones they are from an elite clan of badasses called sunbros.(Praise the sun)
Dark souls, died a thousand times Dark souls 2, expecting to die another thousand times
Level range and time of day are the only real factors. You probably aren't gonna see much action at SL80 in Anor Londo for example. Most people tend to be around 50 when they get there.
And time of day of course. NA easily makes up the largest portion of the playerbase. So it won't be as lively in the dead of night when they are asleep. You'll mostly be seeing Japanese players at that time probably.
Also location in the level. There are different hotspots that people like to drop their signs at. It's not always at the bonfire.
Orange signs are Sunbros. If you kill the boss with one of them alive, everyone will get a Sunlight Medal.
