Hello, guys. I'm here to advertise a very unique PvP server by the name Project Ares. The way this server works is as follows: two teams battle each other on preset maps with different objectives. On some maps, you will begin with supplies, and on others you will have to take supplies from chests. Matches typically last anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes, largely depending on the map. This server is run through a plugin called PGM, or PvP Game Manager, which was created by the server's owners, Anxuiz and MonsieurApple.

---
Game Types

Destroy the Core - In this game-type, you will have to take supplies from chests. The objective is to get onto the other team's side and destroy their core, making it leak lava. The core is made of obsidian, making this a difficult process. So that games do not stagnate, the core will change to gold, and then glass after a set interval. Most games do not get to this point, however.

Example Maps: Airship Battles, Spaceship Battles [not the only objective on this map], Shroom Wars, Watery Grave, Medieval Warfare, Fortress Battle

Destroy the Flag - In this game-type, you will have to take supplies from chests. The objective is to either fire cannons at, place TNT on, or simply destroy by hand, the enemy team's flag until it is completely destroyed.

Example Maps: Fort Wars

Team Deathmatch - In this game-type, you will spawn with supplies. The objective is to kill your enemy as much as possible and die as little as possible. There is one unique TDM map named Trench Warfare that allows you to select classes, similar to the ones in Team Fortress 2.

Example Maps: Harb, Sand Wars, Trench Warfare

King of the Hill - In this game-type, you will spawn with supplies. The objective is to hold a point at the center of the map for 1.5 minutes. The first team to do this will win.

Example Maps: Urban Jungle

Race for Wool - In this game-type, you will have to take supplies from chests. The objective is to storm the enemy defenses, breach the "wool rooms" on the enemy sides, manage to slip through enemy defenses again and make it back to your team's side of the map, and place the coveted wool in your team's victory monument. There are two pieces of wool that need to be captured.

Example Maps: Race for Victory 2 (RFV2)

Commands

/join - Makes you join a team. Whether you join Red or Blue team is random. If you do not type /join, you will be a spectator. You can fly around and spectate the match, but those assigned to a team can not see you and you cannot interact with the map.

/g <message> - Sends a message to global chat. If you do not type /g before a message, only your team (or other spectators, if you are a spectator) will be able to see your message.

@<player> <message> - Sends a private message to the defined player.

/match info - Displays the time the match has been going on for, and completed objectives if there are multiple.

/map rot, /map rot 2 - Shows the current map rotation.

/map next - Shows the next map that will be played.

/vote [yes/no] - Votes yes or no if there is a poll.

/register <email address> - Registers you on the website, enabling you to post on the forums.

Rules

The server rules are enforced by the Moderators and Owners on the server. Moderators are denoted by a red asterisk, and Owners are denoted by a yellow asterisk.

The rules are pretty simple: don't grief your own team or use a hacked client. Doing either of these two will warrant a warning, kick, or ban.

Stat-Tracking

The server's website features stat-tracking. You can view your stats by replacing <player> with your username in the following link. It is case sensitive.

oc.tc/stats/<player>

---
Donation Policy

Unlike many large servers, Project Ares does not give its donors overpowered perks. Here's what donors get: a green asterisk, the ability to join full games and bypass queues when the server is in a high-traffic period, and a personal thank-you from the Owners. I'm not kidding: http://oc.tc/donate. Donating to Project Ares is largely just to show your support for the server.

So come join up and have some fun. The community on here is great, and you'll have a ball on our unique maps.

I reiterate,

Sounds neat.

Things happen when you push buttons, but yelling at the screen yields no results.

8/10 had a fun experience. Would recommend to anyone looking for an awesome PvP games server. Only problem is that Destroy the Core seemed to drag on a tad too long and supplies seemed to run short very quickly but the first isn't really the fault of the server owners and I wouldn't know how you could fix the second or if they even want to fix the second.

They're actually rewriting the plugin in the near future, it'll be called PGM 2.0. It speeds up how quickly they can program new maps, so in the future you can expect to see many new maps that will hopefully address the issues that you brought up.

I just played a few rounds, and Destroy the Core was a bit long. Made it to glass core. Maybe just moving chests to the far ends of the map would make it go a bit quicker, so everything isn't destroyed in the first two minutes.
