i dont have pistons on me yet, so as of now i have to break melon block with my hands to earn a profit on this server, and it can get pretty slow breaking with my fist or the sword i usually use, so by question whats the fastest way to break melons?

I usually use an Axe which seems to go a bit faster. I know they work well for pumpkins at least.

Melons don't have a preferred tool, so either use a sword (which is best on blocks that don't have a preferred tool) or use efficiency enchanted pick, axe, shovel, etc.

Like it or leave it. Hey, where are you going?

Gold sword would work fastest, but it has crap durabilit. Therefore, it isn't the most efficient unless you have a stockpile of gold laying around.
