normal mode harder then hard mode?

So earlier today I decide to test out my new diamond sword by going gung-ho on foot to fight them, and I figure that id change the difficulty to normal from hard just so I can tread shallow waters before going all-out.

But at nightfall I'm REALLY surprised to get absolutely SWARMED by mobs! There were at least twice as many outside my base as usual. I did a test afterward to see how many spawn on hard, and lo and behold the mobs were much more sparse.

So....misleading difficulty modes much? What's the deal?

Yeah I have also heard that normal/easy is harder than Hard.

I have no idea, and am not 100% sure if it's actually true, But I did notice less mobs in Hard.

The mobs don't spawn on hard, but they should be more difficult to kill than normal or easy, which has more, but easier mobs to fight.

This sentence is false.

Well that's kinda backward. Youd think that it would be a lot easier to take out a single creeper without worrying about 3 or 4 more that are coming up from behind you

i agree thats kinda backward. should be more on hard, harder to kill and less on easy and easier to kill.

Reasoning for this is more mobs=more resources.

Let me be clear, and I don't have the link at hands.

There is NO difference in spawn between difficulties (except peaceful). This was throughly tested by someone on the Minecraft forum, there was a topic about it.

I play on Easy and I experience it all. Sometimes I get a ton and ton of enemies. Sometimes I can barely find or even hear one for a bunch of in-game days.

At best, its coincidence.

I would love a super hard mode, where an army of zombies get spawned each night.
