Minecraft.exe won't open.

Does anyone here know how to solve this? I asked around the Minecraft forums, searched high and low on Google and absolutely cannot find a fix;. I tried everything, and so far nothing works.

Neither the .exe or .jar client will open, even when run in compatibility mode or as administrator. I have Windows 7 64-Bit, and can post my specs if needed. Any help is appreciated.

Sounds dumb, but have you tried redownloading the client?

This happened to my friend. On the download page, download the minecraft.exe that says "If that doesn't work for some reason, try this one."

Open it with WinRAR.

I've done both of those things, but I will try opening it with winrar. :s

Remember, you're opening the Minecraft.jar in the BIN folder with Winrar. It has never failed me so far when it comes to adding texture packs.

There is no minecraft.jar in the bin folder. Is there supposed to be?

I don't want to change the textures, I want to play it from my desktop.

Yes, there's suppose to be. But the game has a habit of trying to remove and replace it whenever it updates. You may have to get it back in there via update, or just re-downloading the entire client to replace everything.

Anyway, Minecraft.jar is where most of the games data is stored, in terms of graphics anyway.

"I don't want to change the textures, I want to play it from my desktop."

Oh, in that case... It's outside the bin file, listed as "Minecraft.jar"

The one in the Bin and outside the Bin folder are similar, but the one outside the bin is the .exe file itself.
