Performance decrease?

#1JonWood007Posted 5/26/2011 3:33:30 PM
I tested the new patch on both my comps. However, it appears that my framerates have dropped in half on both computers.

With my desktop, I was getting around 140 FPS. Now I get around 60.

With my laptop, did get 30-40 on minimum, now I get 15-20ish.

Anyone else notice massive decreases in performance? As it is, it's performing worse than 1.4, which is before the huge boost in 1.5.

I really dont like 1.6 at all, it's incredibly buggy, and the performance is much worse.

My laptop went from 18 fps to 4. Not saying I have ever been able to play it well, but now it went from unplayable to impossible.

Yeah. Thats the thing, my desktop can take the performance hit (atlho losing frames is never a good thing), but the laptop...makes the game go from barely playable to not playable all that much. Not to mention.....60 FPS on minecraft.....i get higher fps on stuff like bad company 2. SO thats...terribly unoptimized.

I place $20 into a box. So do you. There is now $40 in the box. I sell the box to you for $30. We both walk away with a $10 profit.

It's not an unoptimized game, its just very demanding, just because the graphics aren't top notch (lol geddit) doesn't mean your CPU has to work any less hard, though my gtx 285 gets jitter playing this then anything else :s

It looks like doom.

Once again, it looks like doom. I understand there are a lot more things going on in it than there were in doom, but doom ran on like a 100 mhz cpu. If it were 30x more demanding, it would run on a 3 GHz P4. CPUs today are far more advanced than that. I can run BF2 on my laptop at 30-40 FPS. And those are huge maps as well. There is no excuse IMO. And not to mention, last patch my frame rates were double.

Except minecraft isn't half as well programmed as doom.

Like, probably not even one sixty-fourth as well programmed.

Also, doom's not programmed in Java
