Should have googled this first. I had the same issue, and there's plenty of answers already out there.

If I remember correctly, all you need to do is open notepad and enter:

java -Xms650m -jar "...........\minecraft.exe""

Fill it in to point to wherever your minecraft shortcut is. Mine just points to the shortcut on my desktop. Then save this file as Minecraft.bat. Note .bat, NOT a text document. Now use this as your new minecraft shortcut.

what do you mean by this? do i just open notepad and save
ava -Xms650m -jar "...........\minecraft.exe""
as Minecraft.bat

then I open that to start the server software?

No, you need to place the location of your minecraft .exe or the shortcut where I put the dots. I'm assuming you have a minecraft shortcut on your desktop? In which case it will read:

java -Xms650m -jar "C:\Users\NAME\Desktop\minecraft.exe"

where 'NAME' will be your windows username (if you're on windows vista or 7)

or java -Xms650m -jar "C:\Documents and Settings\NAME\Desktop\minecraft.exe"

if you're on XP.
