Minecraft's maximum size is just TOO big to allow for easy gameplay.

Seriously. THREE times the size of the Earth?
You must be kidding me.

There has got to be some way to limit the size of the a map.

It doesn't start OFF that large. It constantly generates as you explore.

There is no reason to do that...

I place $20 into a box. So do you. There is now $40 in the box. I sell the box to you for $30. We both walk away with a $10 profit.

A point where the world would loop would be nice though. Give us some feeling that we're on a sphere instead of a very very long flat plane.

Except that kind of destroys the idea of an endless world.

Except it's technically not endless anyway.

I, too, support the idea for placing optional limits on the map size, and making it circular.

I'm just going to go out on a limb here and guess that if Notch decided to make the world loop around on itself, he would just make some large (positive) x-coordinate identify with the same negative coordinate, ie moving in a positive direction we might have 511, 512, -511, -510, etc... and do something similar with the z-coordinate.

If this were the case, we'd actually be playing on a torus, not a sphere...
