is the knight better than using another player? I would imagine it depends on the player? :-)
If you guys are using the Drake Sword, and still having problems with this boss, then, I don't think anyone can help you, short of beating it for you. If you're not using the drake sword, or pyromancy, then yeah, it can be a pain. --- Youtube Channel - http://www.youtube.com/user/anatomy2k7 - Videos of Recently Released Games
Check your items for the black soul saying: Humanity, your bound to have one or two of them stored so use one and then Solaires summon is right before you traverse the white light so summon him and he can divert their attention for the most part and give you enough time to get behind them and kill them.
Just beat the Gargoyle !! still there if anyone wants help --- FO3/NV-Boards RIP JESUS is my personal LORD and SAVIOR
Just beat them for the first time on second attempt, honestly, it wasn't hard, although i'll openly admit that i used the drake sword. Also, its a heck of alot easier to do if you have kindled the last bonfire you lit. Since i died the first time, i never had the help of the phantom guy, but with him, this fight would be very easy using the method outlined below. BTW, at this point i was wearing the dark leather armour set, and the hollow soldier shield (?). Firstly make sure you get the tail, so don't lock on to the first gargoyle. When he flies up, try to get close to him and avoid his attack, now get behind him, its honestly not hard. Cut off the tail regardless of whether or not you have the axe already. Now you can lock on to make defending as simple as withstanding his two axe swings, lowering your shield briefly between hits to get some stamina back, and then rushing in to get 2 hits or so. He may hit you once, but roll away and heal and you should be fine. Now the other gargoyle comes. So yeah, it gets a little harder, but to be honest, the fire does very little damage if you keep up your shield, so just block the fire if you have to, and run around it when you get chance. Focus on the first gargoyle still and kill him as fast as possible, its actually really easy to get to him between fire waves and hit him a few times, just be patient and sprint away to heal once in a while. As long as you only go for a couple of hits maximum, i had no problems here at all. If hes almost dead, and you're worried about dying at close rage, fire bombs do an ok amount of damage to finish the job, but honestly, you don't need them. Once the first is dead, its easy. Just keep defending against the fire until he tries to swing for you. Roll away from that attack if possible, or else try to use your shield, either way will work, but its easier to get close if you roll. Get in, attack as many times as possible and he will drop very fast. You may need to do the above two times max. If you die on the single gargoyle, its because you're not being patient enough. I'm not even very good at this game, it took me forever to stop dying in the undead burg, but so far i'm finding the bosses reasonably ok. I do want to get rid of this drake sword as soon as possible though, it is making things alot easier. I also have a winged spear +5, but damage wise, its too much of a drop from the sword :( I plan to keep upgrading it when i am able, and hopefully i can take the game off easy mode soon. good luck dude.
Any other methods for acquiring humanity? PVP and Co-op grants you humanity(although you need to spend one to gain one). The creepy merchant behind the gate(at the shortcut between the deep/capra demon and firelink shrine), the one with the curse cure for 6000, sells humanity for 5000 souls, i'm not sure it's an unlimited amount, it might be gone from the shop list after buying it, not sure... --- Guido Anchovis: On the other hand, there could be a monster, or mutants, or UFOs! I killed the Gargoyles on my second try without any NPC's or phantoms to help. You just have to read their movement.
The biggest problem I have is avoiding the fire. There never seems to be any opportunity to attack whatsoever. What level should I be at this point? I'm SL 14, haven't upgraded any of my items, not using the Drake Sword, am a Wanderer, and am having no luck. I even tried bringing on the phantom and he barely did anything. He did pretty no damage and he didn't seem to grab much aggro from the second gargoyle, either. Reading their movement isn't the issue, it's the fact that with the two of them coming at me at once, I can never get in because the fire takes up half the damn roof. And if I can get around the fire and get a shot at the second gargoyle, I just have to hope that he isn't already attacking me, which it usually is. Might have to use up my last humanity item and try and summon someone in. Don't want to waste it on the Phantom if it's as useless as last time. --- http://i.imgur.com/Mqy7G.gif http://i.imgur.com/DIdpA.gif
The biggest problem I have is avoiding the fire. There never seems to be any opportunity to attack whatsoever. Actually you should be attacking when they are breathing fire. When they do that they have to stay still. Keep your shield up and hit them after the attack. What level should I be at this point? I'm SL 14, haven't upgraded any of my items, not using the Drake Sword, am a Wanderer, and am having no luck. You should maybe pick up a halberd (which is by the entrance to the chapel) and upgrade it. It has a nice reach. I used lightning on it and along with the NPC we made short work of the pair. I even tried bringing on the phantom and he barely did anything. He did pretty no damage and he didn't seem to grab much aggro from the second gargoyle, either. I am afraid I find that hard to believe. He is a good ally and has a lightning weapon. I watched some of the videos on YouTube and listened to the commentaries. They were very helpful.
They don't stay still, they still turn and face you as they breath the fire. And when I try to attack the one breathing fire, I usually get hit by the other. I do have a halberd, but I don't have the strength to use it. I've only been levelling Dex really, and I've just started Vit and End. And, in my attempts to kill them, I've used up the three lightning items I got from a chest, and can't find anymore. And yes, honestly, the phantom was barely any use. Every time (except one) that he tried to do the lightning attack, he either missed or got hit out of it. And when ht did get aggro from the other one, I was usually in a position where I couldn't do much damage to the other one. He died pretty damn quick as well. Maybe he got cornered or something, because he practically did nothing. EDIT: Oh, and here's my current stats. Considering I'm playing a Dex focused Wanderer (if that's even a good idea, I wouldn't know <_<) what should I be doing now? I'm raising up Vit and End equally, but how much of each stat should I have? --- http://i.imgur.com/Mqy7G.gif http://i.imgur.com/DIdpA.gif |
