I already outlined it in another thread, basically grab a bow, use a spear yourself, turtle 'bait' them into coming closer, use unlocked running attacks (katana works pretty well) etc

A good spear user will pick up on these and try to counter them with his own tactics, on which the good opposing player will also pick up and change his tactics up. Many say its boring, but fighting an actually GOOD spear user is far from boring (unless you yourself use a spear, then its f***ing boring)

Yes. I've been on this stupid "two giant swords" kick for the past week with my Strength/Faith build. With the armor set I'm using, I've got 101 poise. Even if they're rocking a Wolf Ring, I can still out-poise and stunlock the crap out of them if I push them. Unless they're good with that "toggle escape" trick, once I start swinging they're not going anywhere.

The way I look at it is this: Rushing into someone can be reckless. It could get me killed, but then again so will me playing their "keep-away game" of trying to hold out against ninja-flips and poking. Since I hate fighting spear-users due to how long and drawn-out the fight becomes, I'd rather chop somebody up and win or get my ass handed to me and get it over with than watch someone dance all over the place like an Olympic gymnast.

Dragonslayer Spear and silver knight spear are the only ones that really annoy me, but besides those two I honestly don't think that spears are cheap. It can certainly be difficult to play against, however for me personally I don't think they're that bad.
