Playing with bots: How stupid can they be, really?

#1LordMordethPosted 2/23/2013 4:56:04 PM(edited)
Based on the past three games i played (or tried to) with bots, all i can say is wow.. i know AI can never be perfect but even on hard they do so many stupid ass things it's amazing.

Nice example from my last game: Dire picks Lich, sends him to bottom, radiant (my side) sends two to bottom, Lich proceeds to roflstomp over both of them and how does he do it? By casting his ultimate.. cos my bots stand right next to each other like the stupid retards they are, they both die from it, pretty much each and every time.

So they die, (eventually) respawn, run back to bottom and hello.. Lich just roflstomps them again the exact same way.

At least people (usually) do better than that though based on my currently ongoing game (with randoms), eh.. really wonder why i even bother trying, you know?

What difficulty did you pick?

If you're playing with "Unfair" bots, the 9 bots will work in unison to make you lose.

This.

IMO only practice your individual skill (last hitting, denying, skillshots, playing mid, etc) against hard bots.

If you have a full stack then unfair bots are actually great way to practice coordinating teamfights.

Yeah, bots have terrible farming habits. After the 10 minute mark, they just roam together, so there'll be a lot of teamfighting. If you're kinky and into that sort of thing, bot matches are great.

Or if you want to practice escaping ganks with a certain hero, that would also be good. Though the bots will not cast their disables even when they're in range sometimes for some reason, but if they get you, expect to be chain stunned to oblivion.

That's because bots only seem to commit to things they know they can finish. They only initiate if they know for sure they can get the kill (lol calculations), which is why they make for very terrifying divers and gankers. You know that if one skill goes off expect like you said to get chain stunned into oblivion.

Yeah, was playing with hard bots.. no desire to go with unfair ones, since if hard ones are that stupid i doubt unfair ones are any better.

Teamfights?

With bots?

Huh, might be worth a shot.. could actually help a bit when randoming with idiots again.
