^ Thanks for the opinion. I'm so backlogged right now and busy with life that I might only get to play one title in the series. I'm thinking I might just go with part 4. If I find I want more and have the time, I'll probably then go 1, 2, 3.
Played all of them and each had One thing that beat the equivalent in all the others I thought.
WOTS1 had the best faction and sword style in my opinion.
The best environments went to WOTS2 along with the best psychotic character in Kyojro and my favorite sword style in the game also from that character (In WOTS4 it's called the Kyoji style I think) plus it introduced my favorite sword stance (Draw/Iai).
WOTS3 was brilliant for allowing you to spend as long as you liked playing without worrying about a time limit which I loved but I can't think of anything there that was better than in any other game still a great game though.
And finally WOTS4 is amazing for separating swords and styles which is just brilliant, taking an ultra-violent style like Kyoji and combining it with a wooden sword or a fish or something is always fun plus taking the unarmed from 3 and making it a viable option all on its own.
Overall I like 4 the best though if only 2 didn't have a time limit it would beat it easily.
For me it's 1 all the way. The story, the characters, and most of all bittersweet victories when fighting to preserve the samurai way of life as long as you can before its inevitable loss. The simple fact that you know it's the end of the samurai way of life is what did it for me. All of the other games take place in a time period where it's a samurai heyday, but the original felt like I was interacting with the end of an era.
I play games and I make rock/punk music. Listen at http://www.purevolume.com/finalround Talk to us at www.facebook.com/finalroundmusic
I haven't played the first 3 (I would now if I didn't have a such a huge games back-log :( ), but I just want to say that I haven't had so much fun playing a game in a very long time.
And this is the first game that made me want to go for Platinum, even though I never really cared about trophies.
Meeting other people's characters online is also a very nice extra touch. It's funny seeing such varied and weird characters invading my world, makes me try my best with my character design in hope that it brings the same kind of chuckle to others.
I just wish I knew that the EU version doesn't have any DLC yet before I got it :x
