Lara needs a knife...

Beat the game, enjoyed it thoroughly, but one thing nagged at me the entire time...why the hell didn't Lara end up with a knife at some point? It's the first piece of survival gear a person needs...hell, Roth had one on his shoulder the entire time. I mean, I can see her having to use the edge of an arrow tip to butcher the deer right at the beginning for lack of a better option, but at some point she should've picked up a knife.

A 100 pound girl sneaking up on a 180 pound dude and choking him out with a bow shaft or digging a climbing axe into his head makes a hell of a lot less sense for a stealth kill than her sneaking up, wrapping a hand around his mouth, and slitting that throat. Just sayin'.

Her bow and climbing axe have other utilities other than just killing badguys, though.

I get what you're saying and I agree. However, I really did like some of those pick axe kills. The knife wouldn't have been as cool.

I was surprised we got any kind of melee action. Totally was not expecting it when I unlocked pickaxe attacks for the first time.

A knife would have been nice, but unnecessary. The pickaxe accomplishes the same thing.

Well Lara has had a kick attack in the past so melee wasn't a huge shock. Felt almost useless though.

Maybe she'll make use of a combat knife in the sequels.

Because, after all, the climbing axe is meant for climbing. I'm surprised it was still working after the end of the game.

I agree, a survival or combat knife should have been mandatory, although the other posters are right, that pick axe she has more than does the job.....I would use that to the head before trying the bow string though, less chance of being overpowered.

She doesn't have the axe for the first little bit of the game, though, and the pry axe, even reinforced, wouldn't be able to do the job.

I was convinced for over half of the game that I would get a hunting knife at some point. I don't even remember when I gave up on it, but it might have been when Lara started randomly using the climbing axe for stealth kills.

Seriously, did it bother anyone else that you went from completely silent methods of killing to *STAB* AAAAAH!!! *STRUGGLE* *SQUIRM* *SPLAT*? Enemies would literally scream three feet away from their friends when I stealth killed them and no one had the slightest reaction.
