If you are using a shotgun like I usually do, you don`t need sniper damage. If you are using a sniper, go with sniper damage.

I like having the bonus power for extra time after using a power. Power-shoot right away results in misses here and there. At least, with the shotgun it does...

My Salarian is my shotgun class. The bonus power is great with Proxy Mine or Energy Drain. It`s good for a drain -> revive. Stuff like that.

I personally prefer using snipers on non-infiltrators, cuz I STILL have no Black Widow (which is the only really useful sniper on gold, honestly...).



I always go with:
Rank 4 - Damage (because it is ALL damage)
Rank 5 - Duration (unless it is a melee-specific build, as rank 5 damage is melee only)
Rank 6 - either one, depending on my intention with the specific load-out. Salarian always rocks GPS/Claymore, so I choose bonus power.

If it's a human with stickies and no cryo, then I don't need bonus power. There are variables, but it should be pretty straight forward. I don't know why everyone's brain is melting here...


Another good tip:

Don't stray from the team before enemies spawn... otherwise, they spawn anywhere and/or everywhere. Very irritating and potentially dangerous.

you do know energy drain works without breaking stealth right? so in that regards why not put the points into sniper so if you get bored with shotguns you can just switch to sniper rifles instead of wasting a respec card everytime you want to switch weapons.

@ Banshee you have that wrong dude, duration is rank 4, i can confirm this as i'm looking at it right now:

Rank 4: 40% Duration OR 40% Damage
Rank 5: 30% Recharge OR 50% Melee
Rank 6: 40% Sniper Damage OR Bonus Power

If you are not using a sniper you can actually ignore rank 5 and 6 and depending how you play it may well be best to. Take my Quarian for example, she uses Saber and Talon, meaning her cooldown on sabotage is pretty high (around 20secs) if i chose bonus power then i have to wait 20 secs for my cooldown to reset, now if i ignore bonus power and just cloak then cast sabotage i get the 3second cooldown of cloak and can spam the power as long as i cloak for a short time first. The longer you cloak for the longer the cooldown, so if you make sure to only cloak for short periods you can use heavy weapons and not have to worry about cooldown times.

Actually it does break cloak, but while its breaking you still have 2 seconds of the bonus damage, so you can energy drain, then shoot all with the bonus damage. Grenades you can throw without breaking cloak though.

I've seen others use a Mantis X fairly well, and the regular Widow X is as strong as a cannon. I wouldn't disregard someone for using either of these on Gold.

I would add the Valiant to this list in addition to the Black Widow. I actually prefer my Widow X on certain builds though.

The Kishock is surprisingly decent, but I prefer this on non-Infiltrators. The shield-gating is nice, and one-shotting a Phantom is always a fun time.

Well I snipe on silver with matis/widow, where I don't need the cloak buff. For example, my turian sentinel who deals with shield gating with a trusty overload, and heavy targets eat a de-buffing warp. Good stuff.

Even if Rank 5 is recharge (which it's not, I use infiltrators all the time), I'd rather that than melee I wont use. Since my abilities get the cloak recharge (even if I use bonus power, which is HUGE for the slow proximity mine recharge), I like that to be reduced. The percentile reductions is decent when holding a Claymore or Widow, or when I finally get a Black Widow.

I could go with Rank 4 on Cloak with a shotgun infiltrator if it's the human. However, my style of play on gold with my shotgun salarian infiltrator strongly revolves around the breathingr room the bonus power gives you. You still get Cloak's recharge for the power, so it's great.

The DURATION upgrade takes the spot of MELEE damage.

The RECHARGE upgrade is rank 4, along with ALL DAMAGE.


...wut? Recharge is a rank 5 evolution. You choose between duration increase and damage increase at rank 4.


ALWAYS go with damage on rank 4.

Either way, I only take melee damage if it's a melee build for rank 5. The cloak recharge works on every power you use while cloaked, and it is substantial when holding a claymore/ (black) widow.

Yeah, Banshee is wrong. Rank 4 is a choice between Duration and +40% Damage. I always go with +40% Damage, it is way too good to pass up. The base 10 seconds is the exact same time needed to activate a device. So the duration upgrade is pretty much pointless.

As for picking Sniper Damage or Bonus Power for Rank 6, it depends on your style. If you're always sniping, the Sniper Damage is an obvious choice. But if you aren't, then Bonus Power has a lot of interesting implications. You also get to ignore the cooldown time for the Bonus Power, despite remaining cloaked after using it.
