Talon Build Help?

#1WyrmcraftPosted 3/1/2013 6:50:58 PM
Ok, so obviously Cain mines are amazing and you build them for pure damage...but what about the bow? AA arrows seem pretty decent but concussive seem a bit skethy on actually hitting your target...

I guess I should be running Cains, AA arrows, pure power damage, and a bit of melee boost in the passive...but IDK

Anyone have an effective build? The omnibow is really cool but also really weird.

Stack as much melee bonuses from weapons and fitness to maximize his Omni Bow.

Max mines (obviously)

He works surpisingly well with the scorpion. The delay on the explosions gives you a chance to charge heavy melee shots and pick appropriate arrows.
He's barely a Gold player and variation is lacking.

I do not even use the bow and find him to be very fun. The mines are amazing and dropping them right in front of Geth Prime's and Atlases/Banshees' etc does crazy damage. Also try them on Rio sometime if you do that farming stuff lol. Talk about overpowered.

Anyway for weapons I use a Black Widow and Particle Rifle personally...but since weight is no issue for him you can roll with what you're comfortable with. He's kind of squishy so it's important to bring a long range weapon. He is very much a viable character even on Platinum.

pick a different class.

jk

the bow is pretty much useless if you are trying to kill anything.

I went 6/4/4/6/6

for both of the arrow power I went capacity so I can carry more cain mines

Also I use the Batarian Gauntlet.

This but Grenade Gear as your equipment. Shields for fitness and weapon damage on passives maybe with 5 going to power damage to increase mine effectiveness. He can actually be pretty good, I've topped out the match against some solid competition before so he is viable with the right strategy. CTM can spawn nuke and get you killstreaks with ease. Play him as a bomb specialist and not legolas and you'll do fine.

you can only have 3 mines on the field at a time, so carrying more than 6 is overkill. just run around a bit and get more.

A tactic that can work great with the mines is firing a mass amount of them into a crowd. The older mines will now start exploding as new ones are introduced past the third. You can completely devastate mobs and bosses at the same time. It practically works like a missile once a bunch of them start going off. You can always shoot the remaining three as well if they don't get setoff by someone in the crowd.

Mines are what set this guy apart, take full advantage of them.

To me this class is garbage... The bow is only accurate at close range unless you heavy melee with it but that takes too long. 2 of his powers are for the useless bow, & @least 4 me, the mines never work as planned. I've had enemies walk right thru the red line & the mine not go off, one even camped in the line without it going off, plus placing them can definetly b tricky. So many times I want the line to go straight across (like across a doorway or hallway) & it winds up facing the roof. Needless to say, this class will collect dust 4 me...

I am pretty suck with using the class but I've witnessed others use it to great effect. Killing with Cain Mines and Omni Bow. My sentiment/opinion is great class, but more of a learning curve to utilize effectively.
