Companion can't carry any items. . .

#1agirlyman360Posted 11/30/2011 11:36:46 AM
All of a sudden my commpanion/wife Aela will not carry any items, or anything else, always says item is too heavy, what is up with that?

I use to load her up with "Booty".

Is there a fix for this or do I have to "accidentally" kill her, and get a new wife/companion?

They have a limit just like you do. She's at hers.
Drop an item and tell you to pick it up off the ground instead of trading with her. They ignore weight limits that way.

"Although all followers have a carry limit, they can hold infinite weight, simply by going into command mode and telling them to pick up an item on the ground. This is very useful for heavy dwemer metals and dragon bones/scales."

Put a bunch of stuff in a container and "order" her to take all from the container. Aela is carrying around 3000 lbs worth of loot right now for me.

Thanks I'll try to get her to pick up stuff off the ground, but to be clear, she's carrying nothing but her bow and her weapon, and I can't trade her not a single thing, cause it's too heavy...

Did you kick her out and rehired her many times?

There is a bug with follower carry weights

http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/36671/how-much-can-my-follower-carry

What's happening is that every time you have a follower join you, a 7 lb bow is added to their inventory. Repeat this enough times and they will have no carry weight for anything.

On PC console command can be used to remove the bows. For console I guess you can use the command follower function to work around it.

Yeah, I used to empty my followers inventory after pretty much every quest and sell, making 1000 gold if I was lucky. Now I just do it once a day (real time) and in one trip usually make 5000-10000 per unloading. Saves a lot of time and hassle for a loot whore such as myself.
