My first thought: someone who will save the world over, only to be virtually forgotten by the next game, with nothing more but a brief claim that you went somewhere and were never seen again and afterwards everything you worked for was undone. In other words: the next Nerevarine.

On a little more serious note, I'm expecting Dovakhiin to restore the rightful emperial line or something like that.

He's a dragonhunter.
I think it also implies that he is going to start the new line of royal blood.
A new Septim type clan, if you will.

I wouldn't have it any other way.

so does that mean we were actually born from a dragon?

No, it means you have the power of a Dragon. Dragonborns can light the Dragonfires, but up until now it was thought that only the Septim line could do so.

lolno.

The dragon hunters were blessed by the Gods, thus making them Dragonborn.
The Gods enabled them to fight on equal terms with Dragons.

*spoilers*

Since the PC isn't aware that he is a Dragonborn in the beginning of the game, it is safe to assume that one of his parents was also a dragon hunter.

Talos was also given the power of Dragonborn. He'll have some part in the story.
