BretonwtfPosted 3/11/2011 2:24:29 PM | personally, i think the arena matches in oblivion got a little repetitive. any1 got any ideas as per new rule or match ideas in the Arena? |
MonkeyBones23Posted 3/11/2011 2:32:58 PM | I think part of the reason is that you ranked up so quickly without doing much in the first place. It is something that I am hoping for in skyrim, a better guild system(You can include the Arena in this as well)
Hopefully, ranking up in guilds isn't as easy and you are given more difficult quests along the way. --- Redguard: Emperor of the Mudcrabs Our Empire can not and shall not be stopped, for our power is as large as our hearts, and our will to live is infinite. |
JackellockPosted 3/11/2011 2:38:15 PM | New types of arenas! Fighting on small bridges above a pool of lava. Fighting in complete darkness. In one match they could even have a dragon attack the arena while you are fighting your enemy. --- Official Historian for the Crabdom HEY YOU! Crabdom is recruiting! Interested? Curious? Bretonwtf (Topic Creator) Posted 3/11/2011 2:43:32 PM | very good different types of arenas idea, anyway. i couldnt stand the same circle with 4 pillars setting tbh. i got bored of its total repetitiveness very quickly, and the poles were just in there for no real reason. other than messing around with long ranged chars. and i remember the weapons they used were scripted. at higher levels u could run in with a daedric warhammer against steel shortsword ppl. |
MonkeyBones23Posted 3/11/2011 2:46:30 PM | Jack I kept thinking of Mortal Kombat when reading your post.
Anyways, I think a dragon attacking you mid-battle would be awesome. I certainly wouldn't expect it. --- Redguard: Emperor of the Mudcrabs Our Empire can not and shall not be stopped, for our power is as large as our hearts, and our will to live is infinite. |
SooperUnknownPosted 3/11/2011 2:48:25 PM | I pretty much solely used the arena to get a quick seven grand or so, or level some skills. Yeah it needs to be beefed up if it returns in Skyrim. Perhaps the radiant AI thingy could get random NPC challenging you to a duel in the arena? Or maybe scripted events in matchess, like cheating, interferance and so on... --- By superhuman effort, you can avoid slipping backwards for a while. theodorelPosted 3/11/2011 3:51:47 PM | You could have a team of allies vs a team of prisoners and gladiators. New environments such as fighting in a maze or over spikes, and using traps on enemies.
Maybe even a small story? |
daremePosted 3/11/2011 3:56:51 PM | -Different arena setups as already mentioned. ~Some matches may be in a traditional arena. ~Others may have you fighting on a narrow platform over spikes (brings in environmental kills from knocking enemy off). ~Some may have you fighting on the arena with lava pits. ~Sometimes there may be spikes present on the ground.
-In important matches (eg. rank up matches) when you reduce the opponents health to 0 they should fall to the ground and you have the option to finish them or let them live. If you finish them you get a unique scripted finisher and if you let them live you may get the option to fight them again later on when they're stronger.
-Make it so you can't go through the entire arena in one or two days (game time). There should be a limit of matches per day (eg. 3) and the prizes should be slightly increased to accommodate this.
-Give us the option of switching to the yellow team and possibly add in a storyline to this aspect of it. --- Price had whiskey poured in his gutshot to revive him. Gaz got white lightning poured in the hole in his head. Nobody had any koolaid so Griggs died-Runner5676 |
