Please can Beth add Random Encounters.

It really brings the world alive when you stumble across things.

Like another Treasure Hunter in a cave, can be an evil one that will attack you if you go in too far, one who is way over his head and wants the help or one that doesn't care as long as you dont get in his way.

Also traveling merchant caravans/villagers coming under attack by random bandits allowing you to come in and save the or join in the slaughter.

Join up with said caravans and be paid for escorting them.

Random camps in the wilderness where travelers have set up or caravans have stopped for the night.

Some creature outside of it's typical environment but happens to have the right CR for your level.

A group of enemies that appears out of nowhere with a given chance for every step you take( or "square" you enter) based on the area you are in.

Or are those not the kind of random encounter you're talking about?

I like how Red Dead handled them. True random encounters.

Agreed. They were very well done, even if they did end up being the same ones over and over sometimes.

OT: I am all for random encounters, as long as they don't come in at really annoying and inopportune times.

Yeah I think you'll always run into a bit of repetitiveness when it come to random encounters that are unlimited.

I did read somewhere that there will be a boat load of random scripted encounters. The good news being they probably be more unique than the unlimited ones would be, but there will only be a finite number of them.

it seems very likely that they would implement the fallout random encounter system

which is what the above poster seems to be describing

I've got New Vegas and I'm not sure what encounters you're talking about.

EDIT: Just remembered that Obsidian did NV. Disregard my above comment.

I like the idea of random encounters but I don't think that they should happen too often. They were cool for a time in RDR but it got to a point where you knew which one you were getting just by seeing it in the distance so you were prepared already for the ambush (if that's what it was) by the time you got there. In fact a few times I was able to kill each of the ambushers before they even got a shot off.. it was kind of silly to say the least.

maybe one where you meet him in a cave, you both fight together till you kill the common boss creature and get to the big loot chest (i assume you all know what i mean), and then he turns on you. make them the same level as you aswell, and maybe around your level in gear.
