As the topic says, does anyone know how many perks you will end up with at max level? Or to put it another way, do you gain 1 perk per level, one perks every 2 levels, 2 perks per level? How does it work?

You choose one perk at each level until level 50, so at max you can have 50 perks.

1 perk per level, every level. Level 50 is the "soft cap". You can level up beyond 50 but it will be come increasingly harder after 50, though you still get perks every level afterwards. So you can estimate about 50 perk choices total, but it could be more. Don't forget that some perks have multiple ranks, so you may spend 5 levels on just one perk.

Pretty sure that comes out to 49 perks, actually. But thanks, that's what I wanted to know.

Not sure, I've heard different responses. Some say you stop recieving perks after level 50. I think it is one perk per level.

I never really got into Fallout so i'm not that familiar with perks and the whole use and process of them.

If you choose a perk at a level do you lose access to other perks?

You continue to gain perks as long as you level up. The maximum is somewhere in the 70's. As svr2006gawd said, once you hit 50, leveling comes at a much slower pace. So you should get at least 69 perks. Also, you don't have to chose a perk at every level up, they'll carry over.

Just out of curiosity, when did they ever say that level 50 was when leveling occurs slower? I recall in the GI article he said that as you gain more levels, it takes longer for the next, and used level 50 as an example of when leveling up would occur slowly, but nowhere have I seen them say there's anything particularly special about the level 50.
