Can Lydia die?

Will Lydia eventually die if she gets hit to much? I've been treking around with her for quite a while now, and while occasionally she'll crouch down as if she's injured, she has yet to pass out or die.

Yes, she will die if she receives another hit when downed.

When crouching like that? Damn, she's super helpful. Guess I should watch her back more.

Yes. She died on the very first hit she received from the very first enemy we fought together (a giant). I was nowhere near her when this happened, so I know I didn't deliver the final blow. I looted her body and went on my merry way.

I'm pretty sure that's only true if the hit comes from YOU.

Haha I killed her by accident. I was charging up an attack to finish off a cave bear when she got in between us. Long story short my character did a finish kill on her stabbing her through the spine.

So yea... Watch out for that too.

She was killed twice in my game. Once by a Blood Dragon and another time by a giant. She got launched like a 1000 feet in the air and I'm not sure if she ever came down lol.
