Unarmed damage is capped at 46-61? Upgrading your gauntlet AR does nothing?

Regarding Unarmed:

* Unarmed only scales with Base Gauntlet Armor Rating of Heavy Gauntlets.
* Unaffected by ANY perk except Fists of Steel
* Unaffected by ANY enchant except Unarmed Damage enchant (Pugilist Gloves in Riften Ratway)
* Untested using Shouts yet
* Max Damage is 46 or 61 (+14 Fortify Unarmed x2, +18 Base Daedric Gauntlets Armor Rating, +15 for Khajiit (optional))
* For reference, max one-handed mace damage is 536.

According to this, there's really no benefit at all from any other armor bonuses and upgrades to armor?

Has anyone put this to the test? I've seen a bunch of threads where it seemed as if people got the Juggernaut perk and upgrades to the gauntlets and it applied to the total attack of a punch, but that link says the complete opposite.

Does anyone know the correct answer? Not around to actually check this at the moment.

Looks like there's no real end game viability for unarmed if none of the upgrades apply.

Why Bethesda would only make the unarmed perk based on ONLY the DEFAULT armor rating is beyond me. Fail.

18 damage with Daedric Gauntlets at 100 Heavy Armor with all the +25% perks? Are you serious?

Disappoint :(

Silly asses shouldnt even of added an unarmed perk in the first place. Might have to scrap or rework my level 24 "monk"...luckily my archery and alteration/restoration talents are decent, maybe I'll make a spellsword I guess :/

Seems correct for the little amount of testing I did...which is lame since I was working on an unarmed build.

His max numbers aren't correct though, since I know you can enchant above 10 for unarmed bonus.

I'm pretty sure the perk was only really meant to facilitate bare handed brawls with citizens anyway, which is dumb in and of itself, especially if you get the pugilist gauntlets and/or are a khajiit.

Damage needs to be raised to coincide with Smithing improvements, and Gauntlets need to be able to receive the same sort of damage boosting enchantments available to weapons.
