This is what Dragour had to say some pages back
"Something that has really just peaked my interest, the Dead Thrall is limited to 40 right, however the Necromage perk (restoration) increases duration OR magnitude (Thrall only have magnitude) so increasing the Thralls magnitude 25% to 50, would you be able to thrall the level 42 Master Vampire and the 48 Volkihar vampire? According to pc users (those lucky..) Vampires are under the undead listing, all undead spells and abilities affect them but has anyone tried this? I want to make a vampire lord now and have two vampire masters following me ^"
Now I never tested this but you say you have Necromage perk? Well I do not. But I can purchase to test to see if that is the case. It probably is! :) Lymon23, do you have this perk? I'll test it out tomorrow. |

gotta be necromage, i'll also try on one of my characters that doesn't have that perk. and if you find vampire masters, please lemme know where, cause i couldn't find one for the life of me. i feel so relieved. --- The snozberries taste like snozberries |
mmezzettaPosted 1/5/2012 10:29:55 PM | All the trespassing glitch is if you get caught breaking into someone's house, and your dead thrall is with you, when you see a guard, tell him you want to pay it off (for me it costs 5 coins). After the loading screen, your dead thrall will level up. You can only level them up once though. So you can't get a very low level character like a regular Vampire all the way to an Ancient Vampire.
Anyway, if you try this with a master mage (like master necromancer), after paying the fine, he will turn into an arch mage, which is someone you normally can't dead thrall because they are over level 40. I have tried this with mages and a master vampire and it worked, but it didn't work on Forsworn characters for me. |
mmezzettaPosted 1/5/2012 10:35:31 PM | I feel better too cannabassassin and probably will definitely be purchasing that perk now if that is the case, ;).
Anyway, for master vampires (minor spoiler): the sub-boss at north shriekind bastion (or south, whichever section has the word wall in it). I actually discovered that place at a very low level and fought the level 31 master vampire I believe. Maybe you went there at too high of a level, which in that case there would always be a Volkihar Master probably. Let me send you a pm because someone else told me where there are a ton of vampires. |
Lymon23Posted 1/5/2012 10:54:35 PM | I did have that perk. But it worked or not I am not sure because my lvl 81 char have that perk but was unable to thrall arch Mage... Also I am currently trying to thrall estro/arcano... But will definitely try to find a valk. Vamp. later. |
mmezzettaPosted 1/5/2012 10:56:24 PM | Last post of the night, phew!
IT IS THE NECROMAGE PERK!!! :)
So you can dead thrall vampires up to level 50 using the necromage perk. Are there any other units considered undead? Forsworn perhaps?
Thanks Dragour and cannabassassin! :)
Good night. |

Wow, that's great. Mind me asking what's the highest form of Vampire you were able to thrall with the Necromage Perk? You could always try thralling a Briarheart(Bruca's Leap Redoubt is a really small cave having only one generic Forsworn and one Briarheart) while you have Necromage now. |

it only works on vampires, as they are classified as undead. --- The snozberries taste like snozberries |
NoctroewichPosted 1/5/2012 11:24:41 PM | I've spent the last three days reading this entire topic (when I couldn't play it for whatever reason), and I would like to say this should definitely be stickied, and that it has been fantastic. I would very much appreciate if we could have someone high enough to conclusively prove the necromage theory. If anyone wants to do it, just do this: Get to where you can purchase necromage, attempt to dead thrall something early 40s rank, which you shouldn't be able to do. Take the perk, and then see if you can in fact raise them after having not been able to only moments before. This could be a great piece of knowledge to be proven one way or another. |

Okay, went to Movarth's Lair, which I had previously cleared. I was actually surprised that everything was respawned. Movarth Piquine was there again, I killed him and tried to thrall him. Message came up "Volikhar Master Vampire is too powerful for Dead Thrall". So I took the Necromage perk and tried again ... same result. So, just in case, I tried a Philter of Conjuration ... same result. Character is level 50. So, just in case, I took the Conjuration dual casting perk and tried agan .... same result. Will keep a save there in case anyone has a solution. |
