How do I pick up a book without reading it???

You need a companion, and then you tell them to pick it up for you. You can then trade with them and get the book without reading it

Easiest way I know of is to get a companion to pick it up, then take it off them.

If the book is on a table or something similar, select it and it opens up to read. Press B to close it and put it down.

If it is in a chest, highlight it and press Right to open it. Press B again to close it without taking it.

Quickly tap A twice when going to read it, it'll skip right past the book reading part.
