I've just been having a look at some reviews for Skyrim, noticed a few bad ones and some rediculous. Some people have been rating the game at less then 10/10, some reviews are even lower then 6/10. Someone even rated it 2/10 on the PS3, I mean 2/10 says that you don't like the genre right, so why play the game...or where they even playing the right game, maybe they stuck Divinity 2 in (i liked that game) and got confused or something. I mean, Divinity 2 has a dragon in it, but it's the hero.
What rating out of ten would you guys go with for Skyrim, i'd say 9/10 myself or 8/10 if i've been screwed over by a glitch or a backwards flying quest dragon. That one cheesed me off. --- Kill all campers!
Well the PS3 did suffer from a fair amount of issues on release.
As for me... probably a 7 out of 10.
Skyrim is good... but they could of done more with it. Though that was probably due to them over-using their Radiant AI program, causing a lot of complications, and then scrapping a fair chunk of it and salvaging what was left to meet the 11/11/11 mark. Then there were some design choices that were meh, I think I'd rather have a menu similar to Oblivion rather than one that lets me look at items. Then there were a few other things that could of been done better. --- May God have mercy on your soul... - The Preacher Because I sure as hell won't. - The Gunslinger
I rely on those bad reviews to get to the real meat and potatoes of the matter. If all the reviews are written by fanboys it isn't really an accurate depiction of a game. Games have flaws, no matter what, and reviews are there to reveal those to let you know whether or not they're dealbreakers. Sure, a bad review of 2/10 can be a bit ridiculous, but so is a 10/10 sometimes. Fable 2? 10/10? Hahahaha...
I've dodged quite a few bullets because of the reviews here, you need the bad with the good. You sift through both to get to the truth and decide for yourself what matters to you.
More often than not a fanboy review of 10/10 is more revealing of flaws than a 7/10, simply because they're gushing over mediocrity. Happens alll the time. --- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtxCr5ju2EE&feature=related - If you played Mystical Ninja 64, you need to click this.
I use to love X-play. Then 2008-2009 happened. Fable 2 game of the Year. I picked it up instead of Fallout 3. Arguably one of the worst $60 purchase in my life. a few months later I played Fallout 3.I have never tuned in to G4 ever again.
One should be careful, however, of sifting through too much negative opinions. It can also have the opposite affect. I was so disappointed that New Vegas was getting hammered on forums soon after launch due to glitches and limited exploration complaints. But I still decided to buy it on black Friday. It was, and still is an amazing game.
