That post made me wonder, what exactly would it take to deactivate a tower? I know Red Mountain was deactivated with the destruction of the Heart of Lorkhan, but the Nerevarine was using tools designed to interact with the Heart of Lorkhan to do it. Also, do the Thalmor have the power to do this?

Removing, destroying, or otherwise incapacitating the Stone, whatever that is for the given tower. Or just destroying the Tower itself.

That makes sense, thank you. Is it ever explained how exactly he is an aspect of two different entities? Or is that not as exceptional as it sounds to me?

Also, and this will sound really ignorant, but what is the basic difference between an aspect and an avatar? And here's the kicker: "mantling" somebody does not turn you into either of these, does it?

"Aspect" is probably better used to describe different viewpoints of the gods; eg Alduin, Aka, Auriel are all aspects of the Time Oversoul. Avatar is someone who is a Shezarrine, etc, shares part of that soul.

Mantling does not.

We know next to nothing about Akavir, but the Aedra and Daedra hold sway over Mundus, worshipped or not. So there's no way to say. I'm not aware of any analogues of Tall Papa, but his helper, Sep, was Lorkhan.

Thank you, Rebel et al, that's seriously helpful. But now I'm wondering if we knew anything about all these prophecies before Skyrim came out, or if the Oblivion Crisis was alluded to before Oblivion came out. Since this was the last prophecy that was supposed to bring about the end of the Kalpa at Alduin's hands (er.. talons), then we really know nothing about what may happen in TESVI, right?

Also, I hate to be greedy when everyone has been so helpful, but can anyone confirm my gameplay questions, especially the one about mountaintop dragons spawning? Thank you all so much.

I'm not such a lore buff, but the in Bloodmoon, the second expansion pack for Morrowind, after you finish the main quest one shaman guy tells of a prophecy refering to the Oblivion Crisis.

You're pretty sure, but you're not absolutely positively completely super-duper sure, are you?

It should be at least noted that the KoíPuníTo at least worshiped, or more so Idolized Dragons, and Tosh Raka became one. Basically they where mad (mad might not really be the right word here) that all the Dragonís died in the War with them and the Taesec, so theyíve been trying to become one and Tosh Raka is the only one to have done so.

Besides that I donít rember anything stating the religious aspects of the various societies of Akavir.

More info here. (Would have linked to the Imperial Libarary but the UESP was quicker)

Off the top of my head, Tall Papa is more commonly known as Ruptga. Akatosh, or Auri-El (although he has some elements of Magnus thrown in). Satakal (the chief Yokudan deity) is more like Alduin.

So dose The HoonDing (from the powerful being's list The Yokudan Spirt of Make Way or something to that degree) have a more well known counter part or is he his own deal?

God I do love his name though.

It's really most likely that Tosh Raka mantled Akatosh/is the Akaviri mirror-brother, if anything.

Not the "last prophecy" just that he was returning and the last Dragonborn would be left defending existence from his nomnom

It's it's own thing. More of an embodied concept than a typical deity.
